Just got two notices about this storm headed to Earth<\/strong>.  One notice said the northern tier of states could see some significant Aurora.  That may put some real links for short lived contacts into the upper bands, and it could destroy those bands as well as the HF<\/strong> bands .  Stuff like this can wipe  out or change<\/strong> a lot<\/strong> of communications flows.    Something else I had read recently was about Electro Magnetic Pulse.  The greatest threat they fear is by Nuclear bombs above the earth but the sun<\/strong> has the same potential and with our electric grid and all the computers we have it could rec havoc on a lot<\/strong> of things if we get a really strong pulse coming\u2026 <\/font><\/h3>\n

While satellites today<\/strong> are built with plenty<\/strong> of security measures to ensure that a single solar<\/strong> storm doesn<\/strong>\u2019t mess everything<\/strong> up, a serious solar<\/strong> storm could still wreak plenty<\/strong> of havoc.\u201d  \u201cA CME<\/strong> like this one<\/strong> can even reroute airline travel. Since the fall of the Soviet Union, airlines have increasingly begun to take the polar route from Europe<\/strong> and North America to Asia<\/strong>, and back. During a solar<\/strong> storm however, protons ionize the atmosphere in high latitudes<\/strong>, causing high frequency<\/strong> radio<\/strong> communications to be absorbed and lost.\u201d<\/p>\n
