{"id":9295,"date":"2011-12-22T22:23:14","date_gmt":"2011-12-23T04:23:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ishmaels.net\/blog\/?p=9295"},"modified":"2011-12-22T22:23:14","modified_gmt":"2011-12-23T04:23:14","slug":"dentist-and-memory-lane","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ishmaels.net\/blog\/2011\/12\/22\/dentist-and-memory-lane\/","title":{"rendered":"Dentist and Memory lane"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Well it was another <strong>day<\/strong> in the string of days to get stuff done before Christmas.&nbsp; My accomplishments were not as big as yesterday but seemed just as important.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p>Since I had to see the dentist at 9:30 <strong>AM<\/strong> I skipped <strong>breakfast<\/strong>.&nbsp; I know, get up earlier and you can eat then brush, well I just didn\u2019t <strong>feel<\/strong> like it.&nbsp; I did get up by 7am anyway but was real slow getting around.&nbsp; We also had the <strong>window<\/strong> washing crew in at 9:00 <strong>AM<\/strong>.&nbsp; There is a local \u201cdiscount\u201d coupon <strong>thing<\/strong> here, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pupalup.com\/stillwater\">Pupalup,<\/a> and I got an <strong>email<\/strong> for 1\/2 off the first $100 to wash windows.&nbsp; That sounded like a real good deal to me so I bought <strong>one<\/strong> coupon, although it cost $200 to wash all of our windows, inside and out I only paid $150 for that.&nbsp; We had a local company <a href=\"http:\/\/www.schatzwindowwashing.com\/\">Schatz Window Washing<\/a>.&nbsp; They, The Schatz crew, were promptly here at 9:00 <strong>AM<\/strong> and got right to work and did a real good job.&nbsp; Since I have very high windows that nearly all require a ladder in some way to wash them, it was a really good price.&nbsp; I will have to have them back in the summer to do it again.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; I wish the Pupalup bunch would get a few more deals for Stillwater <strong>going<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Once the washers were busy doing there <strong>thing<\/strong> I took off for a quick stop at the bank to deposit some checks.&nbsp; You thought I only went to get money out\u2026 Then on to the Dentist.&nbsp; It was not so bad there, got a good cleaning, and came out ok, no big <strong>problems<\/strong> that a <strong>bit<\/strong> more work around the implant would not cure.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p>I got back <strong>home<\/strong> in time to see them finish up.&nbsp; Sherrie found out they were from Blackwell, her <strong>home<\/strong> town, so she had a visit with them about what they knew and didn\u2019t know and who.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p>We had a late <strong>breakfast<\/strong> or what ever you can <strong>call<\/strong> it, and settled in for a <strong>lot<\/strong> of nothing.&nbsp; I did some reading and checked on some things from way back and came across this add in an old Ham Radio Magazine from my early Ham days\u2026 I actually built <strong>one<\/strong> of these and it worked pretty good, surprise, <strong class='StrictlyAutoTagBold'>surprise<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/ishmaels.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/image2.png\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px\" title=\"image\" border=\"0\" alt=\"image\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/ishmaels.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/image_thumb2.png?resize=440%2C595\" width=\"440\" height=\"595\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I carried that to a <strong>lot<\/strong> of places and enjoyed the heck out of it.&nbsp; Note it was only a 5 channel and put out just 1 (<strong>one<\/strong>) watt.&nbsp; Handheld???? the unit I have today is maybe 30% as big, covers 2, 220, 440 and 6m and puts out 5 watts on most as well as unlimited channels, does APRS, hears stuff that old <strong>one<\/strong> would never get close to and on and on and on\u2026 but technology has dramatically increased since 1977.&nbsp; That old magazine was filled with memories for me\u2026 several things in there that I had and many more that I really thought I had to have but never got.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p>Later in the <strong>day<\/strong> we made a trip into town and back to take care of some other items then after a \u201cleft-over\u201d <strong>dinner<\/strong> we made it into the OSU Women&#8217;s <strong>BB<\/strong> game.
