I was reading<\/strong> another blog these two items were covered in his blog and I wanted to put the same stuff here.  What are a Hams best tools\u2026 probably the number<\/strong> one<\/strong> tool is the Multi-meter<\/strong> or VOM<\/strong>.  We use<\/strong> it for almost anything and everything in checking \u201ccontinuity\u201d to \u201cresistance\u201d.  I think we would be essentially lost with out one<\/strong>.  I have several since I forget where I leave them sometimes and I am working<\/strong> in several places.  I carry one<\/strong> in the RV<\/strong>, one<\/strong> in the shop and another in my \u201celectronic\u201d tool chest\u2026 I found this video and it shows<\/strong> a lot<\/strong> of what the multi-meter<\/strong> is used for and some of the methods:<\/p>\n

One thing<\/strong> that is newer than the VOM<\/strong> is the \u201ckill-o-watt\u201d meter.  It is much easier to use<\/strong> to figure<\/strong> out how much current your pulling (for an AC<\/strong> load).  It is also very useful to determine that the voltage that your getting ready to hook up to is proper. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
