tower for APRS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The WD0AJG-1 <strong>digi<\/strong> is up but on a temporary pole.&nbsp; It may have to remain temporary for some <strong>time<\/strong> until we get the rebuilt <strong>tower<\/strong> back and get the antennas, coax and other attachments put back on it and raise it up.&nbsp; This is what it looked like before it came down:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/box5128.temp.domains\/~ishmaels\/blog3\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/P1010008-1.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"P1010008\" rotor, cross, antenna and attachments\u2026<\/p>\n<p>It may be repaired by the end of this week but I will not have <strong>time<\/strong> to get it all back together before I leave for work.&nbsp; So this is the temporary <strong>tower<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/box5128.temp.domains\/~ishmaels\/blog3\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/P8150002.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"P8150002\" style=\"border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px\" border=\"0\" alt=\"P8150002\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/box5128.temp.domains\/~ishmaels\/blog3\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/P8150002_thumb.jpg?resize=365%2C485\" width=\"365\" height=\"485\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The base is about where the bend was in the other <strong>tower<\/strong> (23ft).&nbsp;&nbsp; The <strong>APRS<\/strong> is <strong>working<\/strong> but that few feet makes a big difference for coverage out on I-35 and locally as well\u2026<\/p>\n<p>I guess I have several things to fix when I get <strong>home<\/strong>\u2026 and <strong>plan<\/strong> to have several days of antenna work.&nbsp; I <strong>need<\/strong> take down the antennas from the top of the shop as neither of them are <strong>working<\/strong> properly with high <strong>SWR<\/strong>\u2026 actually the mobile I had up is acting more like a dummy-load than an antenna.&nbsp; I want to get the <strong>guy<\/strong> wires <strong>run<\/strong> for the new <strong>tower<\/strong> and then get the 160 meter Carolina Windom put up on the <strong>tower<\/strong> so when it gets cold, I can have some <strong>FUN<\/strong>\u2026 I might have to make some contacts before it is cold but there will be <strong class=\"StrictlyAutoTagBold\">plenty<\/strong> of work to get the ends tied off and the proper standoff for the lead in, etc.\u2026 I also have a new Tri-<strong>band<\/strong> antenna to put on the top that will cover 6\/2\/440.&nbsp; I think that if we have a few more <strong class=\"StrictlyAutoTagBold\">sun<\/strong> spots that 6 meters might open up a little the next <strong>couple<\/strong> of years?&nbsp; and at least a vertical will be better than nothing\u2026<\/p>\n<p>When you\u2019re a <strong>Ham<\/strong> there is always <strong class=\"StrictlyAutoTagBold\">plenty<\/strong> of projects to work on\u2026 I should have been doing some of this earlier but it was just so damn hot.&nbsp; I also have some in shop projects not related to <strong>radio<\/strong> that <strong>need<\/strong> some attention\u2026 a stained glass <strong class=\"StrictlyAutoTagBold\">project<\/strong> and I have told myself I <strong>need<\/strong> to get some more of my airplanes built and try to sell a few\u2026 I have <strong class=\"StrictlyAutoTagBold\">plenty<\/strong> of cans that <strong>need<\/strong> to be cut up and put together.&nbsp;&nbsp; Wish me <strong>luck<\/strong>, I am <strong>going<\/strong> to <strong>need<\/strong> it to get much of this done or maybe it not <strong>luck<\/strong> but ambition?&nbsp; so wish me ambition.&nbsp; &#8211;
