I started out for my early morning walk and this greeted me\u2026<\/p>\n

I went on but about half way the wind<\/strong> picked up and it looked like it could flood at any point<\/strong> so I turned and got home , just in a little sprinkle and then ???? nothing\u2026<\/p>\n

Later the welder showed up to assess the tower<\/strong> problem<\/strong> and figure out the cost<\/strong> of fixing, plus adding some guy<\/strong> posts so maybe this bending problem<\/strong> will not  happen again.  I had really hoped to not put in guy<\/strong> wires and posts but in Oklahoma, It appears necessary, although it may still not totally end the problem<\/strong> it will build up the resistance to failure<\/strong>. We hope.<\/p>\n

Then it was lunch and back to handle a few small things.  Work emails, etc.  I guess<\/strong> I will still be working, just waiting on some travel orders.  Maybe in Houston for a few weeks starting August 23?  We will have to see how it all goes.<\/p>\n

During my trip into town I got a few more pictures of the damage<\/strong> from the big wind<\/strong>\u2026 makes me feel<\/strong> better about my small damage<\/strong>. (a little)<\/p>\n

Later when the wind<\/strong> died down I got after letting the tower<\/strong> down, stripping off the antenna equipment and other stuff, then struggling to get it \u201cun-pinned\u201d from the base so I could pull it out of the way.  the bend in the top had it twisted when I let it down and I had to find a \u201csort<\/strong>-of\u201d balance<\/strong> point<\/strong> to get a brace under then try to twist it back a little and at the same time<\/strong> pound out the hinge pin\u2026 I was too damn busy to get pictures of that operations and besides, I whacked my thumb and arm in the process so I really didn\u2019t feel<\/strong> too much like pictures\u2026 but I did get it down, pulled back and now to call<\/strong> the welder to come and get it, cut it or something<\/strong>.  I also put up a temporary pole I had laying behind the barn<\/strong> with one<\/strong> antenna on the top to \u201cget buy<\/strong>\u201d on the APRS<\/strong> digi.  Seems the one<\/strong> I had planned on- one<\/strong> on top of the barn<\/strong> \u2013 and old mobile had a very high SWR<\/strong>, so I would guess<\/strong> that the coax has pulled or something<\/strong> like that and I was not getting on the barn<\/strong> in the dark to fix that\u2026 it will wait for another day<\/strong>.   – WD0AJG<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
