{"id":7493,"date":"2011-08-08T20:49:49","date_gmt":"2011-08-09T02:49:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ishmaels.net\/blog\/?p=7493"},"modified":"2018-11-12T07:08:20","modified_gmt":"2018-11-12T07:08:20","slug":"damn-oklahoma-weather-anyway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ishmaels.net\/blog\/2011\/08\/08\/damn-oklahoma-weather-anyway\/","title":{"rendered":"Damn Oklahoma Weather anyway&hellip;."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It was a ok <strong>day<\/strong> until about 6pm.&nbsp; Well if you don\u2019t include the financial debacle we are <strong>going<\/strong> through.&nbsp; Since a <strong>lot<\/strong> of my retirement is in a 401K and not many choices to move it around, along with penalties if you move it more than quarterly, I took a real beating on the <strong>last<\/strong> two days and I have it in conservative funds.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Being and investor and not a trader, I did start putting some of the <strong>set<\/strong>-aside <strong>cash<\/strong> today into some of the really beaten down stocks that pay a good dividend.&nbsp; Just hope they have about suffered enough? The return on them will look pretty good if they can just maintain value form here out? I know, wish in <strong>one<\/strong> hand and spit in the other and see which fills up first.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond that I didn\u2019t get a <strong>lot<\/strong> done.&nbsp; I did get out and do some more scrubbing and cleaning on the <strong>front<\/strong> of the motor home to get the bugs and nasty grease prints off the <strong>front<\/strong> from all the work on the air conditioning unit\u2026 I got it pretty clean and in the process that means I had to use a \u201cde-greaser\u201d which took all the wax off so I had to put some wax back on today\u2026 All I worked on was the <strong>front<\/strong>\u2026 it was too damn hot to work on anything else\u2026<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/box5128.temp.domains\/~ishmaels\/blog3\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/P1010002.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"P1010002\" style=\"border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px\" border=\"0\" alt=\"P1010002\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/box5128.temp.domains\/~ishmaels\/blog3\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/P1010002_thumb.jpg?resize=430%2C324\" width=\"430\" height=\"324\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It <strong>wasn<\/strong>\u2019t long after that point that it started to cloud up.&nbsp; Oh boy maybe we get some rain?&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p>Well the clouds got darker and it started blowing \u2013 not much <strong class=\"StrictlyAutoTagBold\">rain<\/strong> but a <strong>lot<\/strong> of <strong>wind<\/strong>\u2026 I would guess it was in the 70+ <strong class=\"StrictlyAutoTagBold\">mph<\/strong> maybe more as it did some damage to the trees in the neighborhood and to my <strong>tower<\/strong>\u2026<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/box5128.temp.domains\/~ishmaels\/blog3\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/P1010008.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"P1010008\" style=\"border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px\" border=\"0\" alt=\"P1010008\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/box5128.temp.domains\/~ishmaels\/blog3\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/P1010008_thumb.jpg?resize=439%2C330\" width=\"439\" height=\"330\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now I have to call the welder and we will have to take it down, so he can cut the top out and build a new top.&nbsp; I will have a guy bracket put on near the top so I can brace it a bit more for the Oklahoma winds\u2026 It has stood up to what they said were 60 <strong class=\"StrictlyAutoTagBold\">mph<\/strong> winds <strong>last<\/strong> <strong>year<\/strong> but not this <strong>one<\/strong>\u2026 so no telling how much more it was than that?<\/p>\n<p>It also tore up some of the sun shades on the lower level that till now had been protected from the <strong>wind<\/strong>, in fact they were hidden behind the big tree to the <strong>NW<\/strong> but it still popped <strong>one<\/strong> apart.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/box5128.temp.domains\/~ishmaels\/blog3\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/P1010007.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"P1010007\" style=\"border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px\" border=\"0\" alt=\"P1010007\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/box5128.temp.domains\/~ishmaels\/blog3\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/P1010007_thumb.jpg?resize=438%2C330\" width=\"438\" height=\"330\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Actually the <strong>one<\/strong> on this end just didn\u2019t pull up <strong>right<\/strong> the broken <strong>one<\/strong> is already laying down.&nbsp; Some got rolled up <strong>one<\/strong> taken down and <strong>one<\/strong> broken down&nbsp; and these two on this end wouldn\u2019t roll up but survived, if we can unfold them\u2026<\/p>\n<p>We did get about 0.60 inches of <strong class=\"StrictlyAutoTagBold\">rain<\/strong> according to my <strong>station<\/strong>\u2026 it was enough to make the \u201c<strong>snake<\/strong> river\u201d <strong>run<\/strong> and our rocking and fixing earlier seemed to hold this time..<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/box5128.temp.domains\/~ishmaels\/blog3\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/2011-08-08-19.27.41-400x300.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"2011-08-08-19.27.41-400x300\" style=\"border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px\" border=\"0\" alt=\"2011-08-08-19.27.00-400x300\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/box5128.temp.domains\/~ishmaels\/blog3\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/2011-08-08-19.27.00-400x300_thumb.jpg?resize=455%2C342\" width=\"455\" height=\"342\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We survived, the house survived and the shop seemed to be ok\u2026 tomorrow I will do a little more looking but the <strong>tower<\/strong> is \u201ctoast\u201d and will <strong>need<\/strong> repairs.&nbsp; So far the APRS <strong>station<\/strong> is still working\u2026 I will just have to swap to the much shorter antenna temporary when we get to take the <strong>tower<\/strong> down.<\/p>\n<p>Such is life in Oklahoma when a storm comes you better take cover and hang on\u2026<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It was a ok day until about 6pm.&nbsp;
