Ok this is mis-leading as I can see confusion\u2026 this is actually day 2 of the cruise but day 4 of the trip\u2026 Yes odd but we started travel on Sunday\u2026 got on the boat Monday and left port Monday evening\u2026 Tuesday was an all day at sea and today was the first stop at the private island\u2026 so actually it is the second say of the cruise\u2026 3rd day on the boat but 4th day of our trip\u2026 so are you even more confused now?  I hope so.<\/p>\n

Since it is a private island thing they do not have a shore. or place for the big boats to dock so we have to take a \u201cwater taxi\u201d or what ever to the shore..<\/p>\n

\"1-NIK_1701\"<\/a><\/p>\n

From our view the island was not much although it had more than was visible\u2026 but still mostly just a beach\u2026<\/p>\n

\"1-NIK_1702\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The shuttles were filling up.  Most people just wanted to hit the beach\u2026 although there were some things at the beach\u2026 <\/p>\n

\"1-NIK_1714\"<\/a><\/p>\n

As you clear around the ship there was some structures on the beach.  <\/p>\n

\"1-NIK_1720\"<\/a><\/p>\n

No idea why it is Ft San Salvador?  but this is where you enter from the shuttle boats. <\/p>\n

Once inside that point, which there is not passport check, even thought it is a different country\u2026 you can get in fine\u2026 getting out you need and ID?  go figure..<\/p>\n

Inside there were people all looking for their particular attraction\u2026 a lot of them in some form of \u201cpartial\u201d dress.  not sure why you wear a see through cover? <\/p>\n

My first stop\u2026<\/p>\n

Didn\u2019t want to waste the opportunity to take relief so found the first men’s room over there in the corner\u2026 <\/p>\n

As I am milling around the interior square that is lined on one side by the vendors and the other has the excursion opening and the way out behind them\u2026 I noticed a tower\u2026 yep a church bell?<\/p>\n

\"1-NIK_1738\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I did make a short trip down that way and found a small church\u2026 open and waiting.<\/p>\n

\"1-NIK_1743\"<\/a><\/p>\n

By open I mean it is pretty open\u2026 limited pews so the 45 inhabitants that stay here must not use this church much\u2026 or maybe it is for visitors? <\/p>\n

\"1-NIK_1727\"<\/a><\/p>\n

They had a pretty nice fountain in the inner courtyard\u2026 but not much for setting on the edge\u2026 ..<\/p>\n

\"1-NIK_1736\"<\/a><\/p>\n

everyone got checked in and then we had to wait on our turn to head off to the \u201cEco Lagoon\u201d tour\u2026 hoping to see some of the wildlife and other stuff of the island\u2026 but<\/p>\n

\"1-NIK_1756\"<\/a><\/p>\n

we were picked up by a truck and taken to the back of the area\u2026 not too far as we pretty much walked back\u2026 and that was our ECO craft\u2026 a sort of glass bottom boat\u2026 although the well in the middle was small and the benches cramped but we made the best of that\u2026 <\/p>\n

There were some other tours, a kayak tour in the lagoon and a ski-doo tour in the lagoon\u2026 <\/p>\n

Once we were off the guide started to recite the training about the plants and such\u2026 <\/p>\n

\"1-NIK_1789\"<\/a><\/p>\n

On our way out\u2026 I thought I saw a drilling rig in the distance\u2026 I asked about it but got no answer\u2026 and on further inspection of the picture it was not a rig but a portable lighthouse\u2026? with some of the old lighthouse (possibly) holding it up\u2026<\/p>\n

you can see the big light and that it is backed up against what looked to be one of the walls and in the foreground possibly debris from a blown out lighthouse\u2026<\/p>\n

Well the tour was informative but less than I had expected\u2026 <\/p>\n

There was talk about the plants and the major tree the palm and then\u2026 original palm huts\u2026 but when I asked if they rented them out she didn\u2019t have an answer\u2026 oh well..<\/p>\n

I got a picture of some starfish\u2026 but most of the pictures were hazy at best shooting through that Plexiglas that hasn\u2019t been cleaned this year..<\/p>\n

oh well we did see a few small fish, the grass, some various coral\u2026 and that was about it.  once back to the dock we got on the first \u201ctruck\u201d back to the compound\u2026 Sherrie and I had pretty much seen all we needed in our walk back from the other end so we headed for the way out\u2026 and they did check out id\u2019s and we had to wait a bit for the next \u2018water taxi\u201d to get back.  We were sent through the gate and on the way I spotted \u2026.<\/p>\n

not quit a pirate ship but oh well\u2026<\/p>\n

Heading out I caught this picture of the cruise ship\u2026 It is pretty big\u2026 Of course once we got back we had a visitor again..<\/p>\n

He looked a lot like yesterday but this time he is a bit different and hanging off the bed\u2026 not sure if he just can\u2019t jump that far or what\u2026<\/p>\n

We had a late lunch \u2013 hit those taco salads again\u2026 pretty good and did a bit of resting and then the same thing but not dressed up for dinner and after dinner we went to the comedy show\u2026 well we waited a bit late and it was a normal progression\u2026 the later you go the raunchier they get\u2026 not my kind of comedy but the place was packed at 11:15 for the late show\u2026<\/p>\n
