I had always heard the term \u201cFreezing the balls of the brass Monkey<\/a>\u201d\u2026 well I took it to mean a real brass monkey but I guess<\/a> the real truth was an old Navy saying\u2026<\/p>\n

Dad was a sailing man\u2026 all but in the Merchant Marines<\/strong> he served the country.  It took many years for him to get qualification as a veteran even though he was shot at and sailed with the real Navy.   He enlisted in the Navy with his best friend but due to a birth certificate problem he never made the Navy and waited out the time<\/a> till he was taken by the Merchant Marines.   Any way, to my story here\u2026 it has frozen the balls off\u2026 damn it got cold last<\/a> night<\/a> and never got warm today\u2026 kind of like our first winter<\/a> in Colorado.  We moved to Alamosa and when we came back from Christmas\/New Years vacation it got real  cold down there\u2026 actually way colder than here\u2026 that winter<\/a> I saw \u201347 on the thermometer at the weather station<\/a> in the airport.  They couldn\u2019t report that temp anymore as people didn’t believe that it got that cold that far south but I claim I saw it on the big official thermometer and beyond that\u2026 it was 6 weeks before we saw zero as a \u201cHIGH\u201d.  All that was before  \u201cGlobal Warming\u201d set in and things weren\u2019t as cold\u2026 it was just about 15 years after the \u201cnext ice age\u201d scare of the late 50\u2019s and early 60\u2019s\u2026 ha!\u2026 Anyway my official temps were\u2026<\/p>\n

Look close it was \u20135 last<\/a> night<\/a> and got all the way up to a whole<\/a> 8 degrees here today\u2026 whew\u2026 and it snowed a little\u2026 but really fluffy stuff.<\/p>\n

I went out twice to clear off the front drive, every time<\/a> I did\u2026 it would cloud back up and snow some more\u2026 oh well it was good exercise and I kind of enjoyed it\u2026 <\/p>\n
