Well, I had the time<\/a> today (first since I have been here) to go fishing.  I had planned to try out Beaver Creek<\/strong> wildlife area and the big stream there.  Nice area, although lots of brush and hard to get to the stream in a lot of spots\u2026 I saw a couple of others fishing up there but didn\u2019t bother them.  They were likely more prepared and doing much better than I.  So here is the short story:<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I spent 4 hours out fishing this morning\u2026. <\/p>\n

\n

of that 4 hours I actually fished maybe 1.5 hours<\/p>\n

I also spent about 1 hour working with the new rod and line<\/a> and pieces that I had not used before\u2026 <\/p>\n

Fussing with knots and tangles, can\u2019t see as good as I used to and that really fine tippit is hard to finger around and tie on hooks\u2026 I had two prepared but quickly saw that I had too much tippet to handle and wrong flies tied.<\/p>\n

I did spend about 15 minutes with fish on line<\/a> or good strikes and misses to set<\/a> hook (new road and new method for me)\u2026<\/p>\n

I caught 2 and one<\/a> almost\u2026 the almost was the biggest one<\/a> and I had it hooked (I thought) was holding it up and fumbling with camera<\/a> that I had put in a button down pocket \u2013 stupid<\/strong> move) and before I got the camera<\/a> out\u2026 one<\/strong> good strong flop and the fish was off\u2026 It was no trophy\u2026 maybe a 8 or 9 inch<\/a> brookie.  The others were little brookies as well \u2013 4 to 6 inch<\/a> sizes\u2026 <\/p>\n

I guess I need to spend more time<\/a> with that rod and setup to get used to handling it in a brushy stream area\u2026 also could use<\/a> some waders\u2026 my last set<\/a> fell apart from non-use<\/a> a few years ago\u2026 <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

So no pictures of the big trophies but still a good 4 hours of \u201cME\u201d time<\/strong> out on the stream with no one<\/strong> else and no other issues to deal<\/a> with other than brush, water, and not falling in a hole\u2026 <\/p>\n
