Got around fairly early today and out, hooked up the trailer and off to Lowes for parts\u2026 needed some new 2×4\u2019s and some quick Crete\u2026 the big storm did damage all over the place\u2026 of course the antennas, radios and all that are being replaced\u2026 slowly.<\/p>\n

It might be a while before I get the tower laid down and replace the VHF\/UHF antennas\u2026 the HF antennas ( mostly wire) appear to be ok\u2026 still need<\/a> to test the Windom but the loop looks ok , once I get it back up\u2026 the big wind tore down one<\/a> of the corners..<\/p>\n

I got that in the shop the other day<\/a> and pulled it apart to salvage what was still useable\u2026  that is why I went to Lowes\u2026 got the parts and stuff and back to work on the antennas poles\u2026<\/p>\n

Once that was done I tested the last<\/a> of my big power supplies , since the storm killed the one<\/a> I had used for 10 years\u2026 maybe I will fix it maybe not but I had a spare so I will fix it up to use and when I have time this winter will look<\/a> at the other one<\/strong> to see if it is fixable\u2026 <\/p>\n

I intend to put covers on it, a plug, and volt meter with out let studs through the cover\u2026 the last<\/a> one<\/strong> was open\u2026 I never did get it covered\u2026 I don\u2019t look<\/a> great but works with Over Voltage protection, current limit and voltage adjust in a limited range\u2026 it was a big commercial unit we used in the oil field long ago and I ended up with 5 of them when they got fazed out\u2026 I donated 3 of them to a local ham club years ago\u2026 they are using 2 of them for repeaters. <\/p>\n

I also found that the drain ditch<\/a> had a wash out\u2026 moved some damn big rocks<\/a> down stream in that flow\u2026<\/p>\n

Hard to tell but that big ridge is a bunch of rocks<\/a> that moved from where I am standing\u2026<\/p>\n

That black mat was covered with rocks<\/strong> and they were all down below\u2026 so I have to move that back\u2026 <\/p>\n

The black mat is covered again and that ridge that was down below is moved back up\u2026 that is why I bought some quick Crete, I am going to try to \u201ctie-down\u201d some of the mid section that tends to wash out\u2026 put    some concrete down in the cracks and tied a bunch of rocks<\/strong> together so it has to move them all or none\u2026 worked above so going to have to do some below\u2026 I also have a big hole that needs filling where the water shoots off the end of some concrete apron\u2026 <\/p>\n

I started filling it with some old left over stones from the house and ran out of energy before I got it filled enough but I think I need<\/a> to do some layers in this one\u2026 it is pretty deep\u2026 so will dump in a couple of loads of concrete and spread it out then some more rocks<\/strong> and a bit more concrete to tie that all down\u2026 It appears half the neighbor hood comes down my drainage ditch<\/a> and when it rains real hard\u2026 that is one<\/strong> hell of a river\u2026 <\/p>\n

After \u201cleft-over\u201d dinner I headed back to the shop to work on a few things\u2026 I have the airplane for GS#3 done except for trimming the center<\/a> bar and putting on the prop nut\u2026 I had to glue on a \u201cpush-nut\u201d to hold it in place<\/a> and had to wait for them to arrive today\u2026 I finally found some the right size on Amazon and got them in today so maybe that will simplify and make things a little nicer. <\/p>\n

Like the previous plan<\/a> I made two Cowls for this, one<\/strong> in black and one<\/strong> in gold and white\u2026 owners choice \u2013 pull the prop, cut the tape, replace and tape the new cowl in, put the prop back on\u2026 just that easy\u2026<\/p>\n

Need to trim that center<\/a> rod to just enough for the prop nut\u2026 <\/p>\n

While I wait for the glue to dry on the push nut setup\u2026  I cut out and put two more humming birds together tonight as well\u2026<\/p>\n

Slowly I am getting a little better at this\u2026 oh and the prop nut is in the foreground that will go on the airplane\u2026 <\/p>\n

So I actually got several things done today and feel it tonight\u2026 moving those rocks<\/strong> was a pain \u2026. in the back\u2026 and for a closing thought tonight\u2026<\/p>\n
