The view from the deck\u2026 but the sun was shining enough to require sun glasses\u2026 what a relief.<\/p>\n

Arrived at 7am\u2026 our tour<\/strong> today was a late one<\/strong> where we had been getting earlier each day<\/strong> today it was 11am\u2026  We didn\u2019t go in till tour<\/strong> time<\/strong> so we didn\u2019t have a chance to over spend money\u2026 we still bought a lot<\/strong> of stuff\u2026 not sure we needed it all but hey, souvenirs are what a trip is for, right?\u2026<\/p>\n

I noticed that they had a tunnel and it appeared to be under this house at the end of the main road\u2026 but found that it turns and runs at an angle and not exactly under that house\u2026 neat town as a bunch of it was built on pilings as they just didn\u2019t have a lot<\/strong> of good space to build on\u2026<\/p>\n

Now I did get out early and walk around the ship<\/strong> on the top decks and got some pictures\u2026 pulled this one as well<\/a>\u2026 you can guess enough to figure out what it was for\u2026 although now a museum\u2026 they say\u2026 <\/p>\n

They had advertised that they had Duck Tours<\/a> here\u2026 and I didn\u2019t need to go see the ducks but maybe I did?  this was the duck\u2026 or one<\/strong> of them<\/p>\n

This was the other so they did both land and sea tours\u2026 interesting\u2026 <\/p>\n

When I did my top of the ship<\/strong> view I knew we would be in trouble as I spotted, just across from the ship, the Christmas Shoppe\u2026 Sherrie could do those constantly\u2026 and we had to hit it before our tour<\/strong> and after since we had a bit of time\u2026<\/p>\n

They did have some nice shirts\u2026 this and others and one<\/strong> I missed a picture of that said \u2013 \u201cSanta- explain good\u201d\u2026 it was a black ladies shirt\u2026 of course\u2026<\/p>\n

While in that Christmas store<\/strong> we met a lady working there that had been from Oklahoma\u2026 but came up when she was 20 and never left\u2026 her brother came up but went home and now lives in Shawnee\u2026? interesting what you learn if you talk and ask questions.<\/p>\n

We hustled back out to the bus Got on our bus and tour<\/strong> guide was from Tenn\u2026 he drove the bus as well out to the Totem park (Potlatch<\/a>) and did a good job of explaining all the stuff out there and telling some of the stories\u2026<\/p>\n

Now after ward I found out that this park was across from the historic totem park<\/a>\u2026 and that there is also one<\/strong> on the other end of the island where they do training and how to get do the tote\u2026 <\/p>\n

the park is also home of a multitude of old cars, and collected old stuff.  radios, parts, riding horses, guns, etc.\u2026 <\/p>\n

Always heard about the Stanly Steamer<\/a> but this was the first to see one\u2026 <\/p>\n

Unusual to find an old Model A type converted to Electricity\u2026 but this one<\/strong> was and appeared to use the same old transmission?  or one<\/strong> like it.<\/p>\n

interesting and eclectic collection along with the hand<\/strong> made totems\u2026 <\/p>\n

Explained that this one<\/strong> has added wings on but the center was like an original house \u2013 easily protected as people had to bend over and crawl in and that left them for a big head banging on entry\u2026 so a protected house\u2026 <\/p>\n

In the group house we learned that as many as 50 people would live in these\u2026 with a fire pit in the middle.<\/p>\n

Of course<\/strong> you can\u2019t go anywhere with out having a watcher over you\u2026<\/p>\n

the story of Eagle Boy was given here\u2026 look that one<\/strong> up\u2026 We also got Fog Woman, and Whale singing\u2026 etc.\u2026<\/p>\n

Then to the carving room with one<\/strong> being worked on\u2026 they don\u2019t work full time<\/strong> on it as they are artists\u2026 we are told\u2026 the one<\/strong> on the left was almost done then developed a big split so they had to start a new one\u2026 <\/p>\n

We were also told they can get as much as $5000 per for for these but it takes about 2 years to do one<\/strong> today, if they did it full time<\/strong> it was still about 7 to 9 months\u2026 since it is all done by hand, no power tools, etc..<\/p>\n

In the store<\/strong> we looked at all manner of things\u2026 including a wide selection of \u201cMOOSETARD\u201d?<\/p>\n

We looked as the hand<\/strong> made totems, small ones\u2026 and I had thought about buying one<\/strong> but hey the 8 inch one<\/strong> with the story of whale song was $135\u2026 oops, cheap kicked in pretty quick on that\u2026 <\/p>\n

They had a small gun collection as well as many other things like merry go round horses and some old bouncing horses that were out in front of stores way back\u2026 <\/p>\n

When we were done we then went back to town and got into the logger exhibitions\u2026 <\/p>\n

Although it appears they have bears helping with the collection in town? At the Great Alaskan Lumberjack<\/a> show<\/strong> they did all the logging competition stuff, interesting and great stories told, decent show<\/a>\u2026 they tried hard to play the parts\u2026 Sherrie did have to hit the Christmas store\u2026 twice\u2026 once before the tour<\/strong> and once after the logging show\u2026 ha!<\/p>\n

When we finished this we made it back to the Christmas store<\/strong> and a few others but not a lot<\/strong> of purchases\u2026 wearing down\u2026<\/p>\n

Back on the ship<\/strong> I spotted that some of the fishing tours were back and they were hanging up the catch\u2026 pretty nice\u2026<\/p>\n

We left port and headed out and during dinner I grabbed some pictures out the back windows\u2026 some were better but through a window is hard to do..<\/p>\n

Oh and tonight we had Lobster\u2026  of course<\/strong> with 4 or 5 courses\u2026 I had scallop at first\u2026 then salad then the lobster then of course<\/strong> \u201cBaked Alaska for desert\u2026 <\/p>\n

After dinner we went back and got out of the \u201cformal\u201d wear and then went to the show\u2026 and the after show<\/strong> in the Cosmos Lounge\u2026 a newly wed game\u2026 oh boy , they didn\u2019t do them selves any favors..<\/p>\n
