Didn\u2019t have a chance to post while gone\u2026 OUCH!\u2026 we got back last night \u2026 late\u2026 late start to the day but first order for me\u2026  mow the lawn\u2026 since it was raining the days before we left I didn\u2019t get it done then and so it now has been about 2 weeks and it was more like cutting hay.. and it is damn HOT!\u2026 we have been enjoying 64 deg days almost all the time<\/strong> up on the cruise\u2026 and that was the highs\u2026 I get home and have to get out and mow and it is 100!!! according to jeep temps and 97 by the weather station\u2026 all that water I soaked up in all those rainy spots is gone\u2026 along with a bunch more\u2026 I also picked the tomatoes and peppers\u2026 got big box full and we only have 3 cherry tomato plants and 3 pepper plants\u2026 and I didn\u2019t think they  would do anything since they got drowned in May\u2026<\/p>\n

OK, on to   the daily of the Alaska<\/strong> Cruise\u2026 <\/p>\n

These days are all being posted late as we never did get internet and I was not about to pay $300 for a weeks worth on the ship<\/strong> so we did with out\u2026 although our phones worked , sometimes, such that we got limited emails, and phone calls\u2026 <\/p>\n

Friday the 9th, It was the beginning of our planned summer vacation.  This year, in anticipation of Sherrie retiring we had planned the Alaska<\/strong> Cruise.  We had heard that it was a great cruise<\/strong> and we had not seen the South East Alaska<\/strong> area.  We had been to Alaska<\/strong> (Anchorage,  Kenai, almost Denali, etc.\u2026 ) way back in 1995.  We took the whole family that year<\/strong> and drove all over .  This year<\/strong> we were to just get to Anchorage, take the train<\/strong> to Seward and get on the ship<\/strong> and weave our way back to Vancouver and fly home\u2026 Actually the original plans were to go up and spend 2 or 3 days before the cruise<\/strong> and do a few things over that we did 20 years ago then go to Seward and get on the ship<\/strong> and maybe take a few days at the end\u2026 but she decided not to retire on July 5th and will work on so we cut the trip to just enough for the cruise\u2026 <\/p>\n

I had set up to use some of my FF miles from all that work travel I did over the years\u2026 that was sure nice to fly first class all the way and thanks to AA when they put in a direct flight to Anchorage<\/strong> from Dallas this last fall.  With the direct form Dallas we didn\u2019t have to leave OKC till about noon and still hit Anchorage<\/strong> at 7:30pm (there time<\/strong> = 10:30pm our time)\u2026 In Dallas we opted for a lunch as they would serve dinner on the plane but ???? who knows about plane food, even first is not great at times\u2026 so the big deal was \u2026.. Popeye’s in the airport..<\/p>\n

not real exciting but shrimp po-boys are always good\u2026   Sure glad we did because I had picked the chicken<\/strong> dinner for the flights (option grilled chicken<\/strong> or vegetarian lasagna)\u2026 and the chicken<\/strong> was dry, and pretty much tasteless\u2026 so we didn\u2019t partake of much of that\u2026 <\/p>\n

A bit<\/strong> unusual to see a jet engine truck flashing down the taxi-way?  but he was moving it on\u2026 !<\/p>\n

Once in Anchorage, after a bit<\/strong> of hurry up and wait, we did get our shuttle to the hotel. and being light out at 9pm we decided to take a bit<\/strong> of a walk before our early morning train<\/strong> ride\u2026 so we walked toward downtown\u2026<\/p>\n

The Fur Factory was here back then but I think they are selling a bit<\/strong> more, or less fur?<\/p>\n

The old theater is still there but closed and in bad shape\u2026 it used to run a show of the Big Earthquake back in the 60\u2019s but looks pretty run down now..<\/p>\n

The flowers here are amazing\u2026 everywhere they are just so full and yes this picture was taken at about 9:30 or 10pm\u2026 and no light added\u2026 wish my hanging baskets looked so good\u2026<\/p>\n

The flowers are just so bright and vivid here that it was amazing\u2026 <\/p>\n

On our route back to the hotel we came on this\u2026 Didn\u2019t even know she had a bar and much less way up here\u2026 <\/p>\n

We had to get to bed even though it was daylight out\u2026 as we were expected to be at the train<\/strong> station<\/strong> by about 5am and that only left us about 5 hours to sleep\u2026 <\/p>\n
