How sad it is that one person killed nine decent citizens, in a House of God, in our country, for no logical reason. Maybe it’s part of the values we have created, but it’s still shameful and disgusting.
Of course, as we know, more than nine people are killed daily in our country; however, most of them are scattered all over, thus by some means making it not sound so bad.
Relatives and friends always know and suffer the effects no matter one or many.
While some want to blame guns, such is folly. Guns have a tendency to do nothing. They simply lie around where they are placed and ignore everything. They provide no danger to anyone, unless something or some body decides to use it. The gun is at fault? Logic? Please! I recently read of a man beating his wife to death with a baseball bat. To date, not one person has come forward suggesting we outlaw baseball bats!
Indeed, the world has far too many people wanting to hurt or kill others.
Greed, religion, evil, mental disorders and politics, among other factors, regularly result in people killing people.
A recent statistic on this subject attributes 171 murders by illegals released from prisons in the United States by the Obama administration.
The recent death of Bobby Berry Junior, well known TV sports announcer in Oklahoma City, apparently died from the action of another illegal who turned his vehicle directly into Bobby’s vehicle at highway speed. Another illegal may well be an addition to that list. Had they all occurred at one location at the same time? Who knows?
However, a few murders here and there over even a short period, as during any weekend in New Orleans or Detroit, seldom brings headline news, suggesting such behavior is acceptable! And that is a serious blunder, especially in a country claiming to be intelligent, educated and tolerant of others!
Oklahoma University’s young quarterback, Baker Mayfield, related his views on the church shooting by suggesting we come into this world without hate.
‘Somewhere along the line, racism is taught. That is where the problem lies,’ he said.
While Mr. Mayfield has a point, he apparently isn’t aware that one of the leading causes of discrimination, like most of our values, is from observations and experience.
Discrimination goes both directions, depending on the circumstances.
Based on my experience in the past many years, no particular group or nationality has a corner on good or evil; however, most groups, no matter their numbers or background, consist of some of each. Blood lines and skin colors are not excuses.
As for the recent gross South Carolina murders, logical explanations are unavailable mostly because the shooter\u2019s actions were not logical. We have suffered through other such illogical happenings before, but we are not better off for the experience.
Still, bringing large numbers of people from third world countries, people with extremely different value systems, into our country without some supervision and direction is a sure way of more violence, and encouraging many older men to become even more grumpy.
