We got a slow start today but made the most of it.  Since it was cloudy and still not dry enough to work in the yard and I didn\u2019t want to set<\/a> in front of the TV all day<\/a> or do nothing\u2026 I suggested a road<\/a> trip.  We hadn\u2019t been on the section of Route 66 between Chandler and Bristow\u2026 at least not in a very long time, so that was the plan.  We made a run to the donut shop for a jalapeno sausage thing and then back to gather up and out we went\u2026 Headed out east to highway 108 then south to see where the Cimarron river was\u2026 it was down a lot, but could.d see where it had been out of the banks north of Ripley\u2026 On that road<\/a> south I grabbed these shots\u2026<\/p>\n

Yep I am amazed at old barns that are being neglected\u2026 lot<\/a> of work went into putting them up and now\u2026 most are like this\u2026 neglected\u2026 although did get this one<\/p>\n

north of the town of Agra\u2026 damn big barn?  not sure what it will be used for but could have a rodeo in there and maybe a fair as well? <\/p>\n

I also collect pictures of Murals\u2026 seems to be a bunch around here\u2026 In Agra\u2026<\/p>\n

As we moved on down to Chandler\u2026 saw this on a neat little ranch\u2026<\/p>\n

Wonder if they are set<\/a> up for visitors or just a collection to save them? Appears to be power out there?<\/p>\n

Then on to Stroud<\/a>\u2026 and the welcome sign<\/a> there????<\/p>\n

But for those in the RV<\/strong> mode\u2026 I found this Classic RV\u2026 needs a little tender loving care but \u2026 has possibilities\u2026<\/p>\n

Of course it is on the other side of the Alien landing field\u2026<\/p>\n

By the time we got through most of Stroud, we came on the Rock Caf\u00e9 and just had to stop<\/a> in\u2026 there was a group of old cars\u2026 missed the shot of the 64 impala convertible but it was cherry\u2026 and a couple of old pickups\u2026 Also some bikers were stopped but not the same groups that were in Texas\u2026<\/p>\n

Our meals must have been good as mine talked to me all the rest of the day\u2026 ?<\/p>\n

One thing I can agree with is their motto\u2026<\/p>\n

Just a bit further down the road<\/strong> from Stroud I saw the sign<\/a> for the Biker Rally and RV campground<\/a>\u2026 I had seen it advertised in plenty of things so figured to stop<\/a> by and check out the RV<\/strong> park as they do have some music  shows there\u2026 on entry???

Wondered why they had a 9ft tall metal fence all the way around the place??? but I am sure it doesn\u2019t offend me but would think that if I joined it might offed many of the patrons\u2026?<\/p>\n

The park was nice\u2026 not spectacular but was very large, had many amenities, like this<\/p>\n

and the huge stage\u2026 that we drove through the end of?  hum? I didn\u2019t get many pics here as I didn\u2019t want to offend\u2026 although it was cold and we didn\u2019t see anyone with out the proper attire\u2026<\/p>\n

Next down the road<\/strong> is a almost forgotten town of Depew\u2026<\/p>\n

main street<\/a> was pretty deserted and this guy was snoozing it off as well\u2026<\/p>\n

Next up was Bristow\u2026 Halliburton had a facility there way back\u2026 but closed that down early 90\u2019s\u2026 silly, as there is still a lot<\/a> of oil-field activity out there\u2026 was just slow back then\u2026 ha! Anyway, We saw several interesting things\u2026<\/p>\n

The really small building behind things\u2026<\/p>\n

We got out for some exercise and visited this multi faceted Jun-Q-E (junk) store\u2026<\/p>\n

They had a Christmas room\u2026 a ??? just old stuff room with some old treadle sewing machines and the main 4 rooms up front with one<\/a> being filled with old linen and various other things\u2026 and two old antiques walking in and out of the rooms.<\/p>\n

Up the street<\/a> I saw the \u201cWholesale Used Car dealer\u201d \u2026 that was the sign<\/strong> honest but this was what was in side\u2026<\/p>\n

Along with various other newer cars and a great old pickup\u2026<\/p>\n

Around the corner we spotted a big sign\u2026 suppose they had to put up the huge tower to attract attention as this place didn\u2019t get on main street\u2026<\/p>\n

And, there are a lot<\/strong> of good and bad oil companies out there but this????<\/p>\n

We left Bristow after getting a iced teat at McD\u2019s and headed home\u2026 made a quick stop<\/strong> at the Tidewater winery as they were having some function\u2026 and lot<\/strong> of booths set<\/strong> up out front\u2026 so why not\u2026 Sherrie run into some people she knew and they were headed to the Steak house next door<\/a>\u2026 we may have to try that as the lot<\/strong> was full and it doesn\u2019t look like much but must be pretty good to draw that kind of crowd\u2026<\/p>\n

We moseyed on into Stillwater and stopped to get some ice cream at Braums\u2026 needed some French Vanilla to go with the big tray of fresh strawberries we got this morning at the store\u2026 they just looked good and with some ice cream they were dinner\u2026 helped to calm the lunch that never set\u2026 and now\u2026 I have some BIG beers to empty so I can get back to the air plane\u2026 ha!<\/p>\n
