The First Sonic \u201cnamed\u201d drive is gone<\/a>\u2026 A new one<\/strong> is to be built there but it is a bit sad to see the passing of the first one<\/strong> (actually I think it had been updated before?)<\/p>\n

\u201cFounder Troy Smith Sr<\/strong>. started SONIC<\/a>, America\u2019s Drive-In as a hamburger and root beer<\/strong> stand in 1953 in Shawnee, Okla., called Top<\/strong> Hat Drive-In. Back then, SONIC<\/strong> revolutionized the ordering process by using curbside speakers that allowed customers to place food<\/strong> orders without ever leaving their cars. This technology<\/strong> spawned the slogan \u201cService at the Speed of Sound\u2122,\u201d which translated to one<\/strong> word: SONIC<\/strong>. Troy Smith Sr<\/strong>. aptly changed the name from Top<\/strong> Hat to SONIC<\/strong> Drive-In in 1959. The first drive-in to adopt the SONIC<\/strong> name is still serving customers in Stillwater, Okla.\u201d\u00a0 ooops that will need<\/strong> correction.<\/p>\n
