Remember the old days\u2026 when I didn\u2019t make<\/strong> hardly enough take home to cover<\/strong> the house<\/strong> payment.  Got paid twice a month and had to save all of one check and some of the next just for the house<\/strong> payment so eating out was a treat\u2026 even at that our treat had to be cheap\u2026 so a lot of times it was Taco Johns<\/strong> (when we lived in Lamar)\u2026 And now I read that it is no longer there and will be redone as a ???? Taco?  Just won\u2019t be the same\u2026 in fact it wasn\u2019t the same with the new building there\u2026 we remembered the little bitty drive in that had no seats\u2026 takeout only\u2026 but time<\/strong> passes, and all things change\u2026 although I still look the same\u2026.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe also noted that the former Taco Johns<\/strong> restaurant in Lamar<\/strong> has been sold and will re-open for business following the completion of some franchise required renovations.  She did not specify any timeline for an opening, but remarked that the new owners have had extensive experience in the Taco Johns<\/strong> franchise.  City Clerk, Linda Williams, stated there is a $7,000 lien against the property from the former owner, for back payment of utilities, mostly for electricity.  \u201cAbout $1,100 is for water, sewer and garbage<\/strong> pick-up and the balance is for power,\u201d she explained.  The council noted they were willing to accept about 50% off for a direct payment instead of using a collection agency, which Williams noted, would amount to partial payments over a longer time<\/strong> period.  She added this will be a win-win scenario, \u201cThere will be a new restaurant opened in town, people<\/strong> will be employed, the city will collect revenue from sales taxes and Lamar<\/strong> Light and Power will have a new commercial customer.\u201d The matter of the past due account will be discussed by the Lamar<\/strong> Utilities Board.\u201d<\/p>\n

Also in the article I see that the city is giving money to entrepreneurs to re-develop or improve business on main street????   Kind of like Political Robin Hood?  Take from the people<\/strong> and give it to others, but not necessarily the needy?  <\/p>\n
