Despite the fact that the United States has some of the lowest energy<\/strong> costs per kilowatt hour<\/strong> of any nation, many people<\/strong> are looking at ways to save energy<\/strong> in order to save money on their monthly bill. What some people<\/strong> do not understand is if everyone saves money on their bill, our power plants<\/strong> will receive less revenue, and their operating costs will go up, so our energy<\/strong> bills per kilowatt hour<\/strong> will rise.<\/p>\n

It seems like kind of a Catch-22 for conservation. On one hand you were told that you will save money if you reduce your energy<\/strong> usage and that it will help the nation as we will be burning less fossil fuels in the coal-fired plants<\/strong> to produce 60% of our electricity, yet, on the other hand as we all save more, our costs will go up.<\/p>\n

Additionally, there is a big push for alternative energy<\/strong> sources to create electricity. This means we have to build new power plants<\/strong> to generate energy<\/strong>, and the cost to build those plants<\/strong> will have to have a return on investment, which will also show up in our energy<\/strong> bills.<\/p>\n

No matter what anyone says, if we conserve more energy<\/strong>, and switch to alternative energy<\/strong> we are all going<\/strong> to be paying more. Throw in the new “Cap and Trade” bill in Congress and we could see our energy<\/strong> costs skyrocket by 400% over the next 10 years. This will also increase the cost to all of our manufacturing facilities around the country, and make us even less competitive globally.<\/p>\n

All this chaos does provide an opportunity for those that write articles on energy<\/strong> savings<\/strong> around the home, and energy<\/strong> costs; in that, not a lot of people<\/strong> are talking about the reality right now, because everyone is hyping alternative energy<\/strong>, solar power, LED<\/strong> lights in the home, insulation, and other methods to save energy<\/strong> in each household.<\/p>\n

For those that are going<\/strong> to write articles on energy<\/strong> savings<\/strong> around the home, they can provide readers with real information, an alternative view, and a dose of reality. Over the last three years, I’ve written hundreds of articles on energy<\/strong>, and energy<\/strong> savings<\/strong> in various industries and sectors, along with what people<\/strong> can do around their own house to conserve energy<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

What I’ve found from the feedback e-mails I get from my online readers is that many people<\/strong> had no idea what was really going<\/strong> on. Perhaps you will consider this when you are creating your own articles in this venue.<\/p>\n
