It is constantly amazing to me that \u201ceducated\u201d people<\/strong> can be so stupid.\u00a0 On a recent news items they were interviewing people<\/strong> about why the price<\/strong> of oil<\/strong> is so high.\u00a0 A common statement is \u201cThose big oil<\/strong> companies are doing it on purpose\u201d.\u00a0 Damn that has been around for 30 years.\u00a0 Well maybe they are, but the inference was that the Exxon’s, Chevrons, BP\u2019s, etc. were all to blame for the run<\/strong> up in prices.\u00a0\u00a0 The last time<\/strong> it happened about the time<\/strong> the slide below was made (2008) it was both the big oil<\/strong> companies and traders some where that did it.\u00a0 Some simple facts about oil<\/strong> production<\/strong> – Consumption:<\/p>\n

One would have to think that at the price<\/strong> of oil<\/strong> for the past 6 years that the \u201cBIG OIL<\/strong>\u201d interests would be producing more to make<\/strong> more, I mean were talking billions of dollars here for a little increase.\u00a0 So why have they not bumped it up? Why is the price<\/strong> still high after 6 years and 2 years of total economic disarray?\u00a0 With the prices staying high and the people<\/strong> of the largest consumer nations cutting back, why is there still so little surplus?\u00a0\u00a0 Just maybe we have reached some point of \u201cEquilibrium\u201d.\u00a0 Think about it.<\/p>\n

This is the listing of the largest producers of oil<\/strong> by reserves \u2013 I am not sure these are \u201cproven\u201d or \u201cpotential\u201d.\u00a0 There seems to be a lot<\/strong> of difference in that \u2013 like \u201cyour potential life-time<\/strong> income might be 7.3 billion dollars but will you actually make<\/strong> that?\u00a0 That depends on a lot<\/strong> of things going really well for you and the percentage chance of that is ??? Slim and NONE.<\/p>\n

From the same article I got the above graphic this statement comes in the first few paragraphs \u201cCollectively, multinational oil<\/strong> companies produce just 10% of the world’s oil<\/strong> and gas reserves. State<\/strong>-owned companies now control more than 75% of all crude oil<\/strong> production.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0 State<\/strong> owned in like Mexico, Venezuela, Libya, Algeria, Saudi, Iraq, Iran, Nigeria, Russia, etc.\u00a0\u00a0 Do you see any problem with depending on the state<\/strong> run<\/strong> companies?\u00a0 How well does our own government run<\/strong> things \u2013 like \u201chealthcare\u201d?\u00a0\u00a0 Maybe we should all worry a little more and do a little more to conserve, reduce and control by letting our politicians know their benefits are about to be cut.\u00a0\u00a0 At least we need to educate our selves a bit more about the problem.\u00a0 – WD0AJG<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
