I have never been big on awards\u2026 but for some odd reason, I got serious into my WAS (Worked All States) award\u2026 and it with the combination of the newer digital modes has made it way easier than it used to be\u2026 at least for me.  So over the past<\/strong> 2 years I have been diligently working toward this award\u2026 I had it some time<\/strong> last fall but didn\u2019t apply until January\u2026 I had hopes of completing some additional endorsements to go with it but then just figured get the basic award done then apply for those endorsements\u2026 So hear is the plaque I got this week\u2026 as proof that I have made contacts (confirmed by LOTW) on the 5 main amateur bands.  I now have confirmed for 3 more bands and lack<\/strong> one<\/strong> contact to finish up the 9th band\u2026 but \u2026<\/p>\n

Since this is a radio based post, I also found some old pictures of my second ham shack\u2026 (never got pictures of the first)\u2026 <\/p>\n

\"1977<\/a><\/p>\n

Yes it was a lot of Heathkit gear and I built all of it \u2026 and it worked\u2026. ha!<\/p>\n

\"1977-fall<\/a><\/p>\n

here is one<\/strong> about the same time\u2026 I know it was the Fall of 1979\u2026 and I had a beard\u2026 then as well as now\u2026 and the guy with his back is Bob Clark\u2026 my old boss with the SCS in Colorado\u2026 He was a ham as well\u2026 <\/p>\n

He had been one<\/strong> then let his license expire and when I got serious and found some ELMERS<\/strong> to teach us he went through the course and got re-licensed\u2026 <\/p>\n

Todays other activities were mundane, again\u2026 spent much of the morning pulling out some old fence line on the north side<\/strong> of the property\u2026 trimming out some brush and other yard<\/strong> things\u2026 Had lunch in town with my wife\u2026 then home to do more yard<\/strong> work, cleaning (although you can\u2019t tell what I did)\u2026 and fixed dinner\u2026 just another day\u2026 <\/p>\n
