Well, got home<\/strong> tonight from a long trip \u2013 out, back is about it\u2026 The decision was made last night to make<\/strong> a quick return home<\/strong> to limit used vacation days if we didn\u2019t need to use them up\u2026 so , early this morning we packed it up and came home\u2026 on the way home<\/strong> we did make<\/strong> a few stops\u2026 <\/p>\n

Had to make<\/strong> a short drive through Flagler\u2026 We lived there once\u2026 temporary as it was\u2026 tried living in the cam p trailer<\/strong> but the cold of winter and wind<\/strong> knocking out the flame on the heater stopped that pretty quick so we moved to a house\u2026 well, that is a loose term for this place\u2026<\/p>\n

We almost bought a lot<\/strong> on the north end of town and built a house\u2026 but conditions changed and I got a transfer to another choice location before that happened\u2026 <\/p>\n

My wife said she went to this library when we were in that little house and I think living in the trailer<\/strong> there\u2026 <\/p>\n

We had a house in Lamar<\/strong> that wasn\u2019t selling so moving was not something we could do till that happened.  We were in Flagler during the week and Lamar<\/strong> on weekends for about 9 months then I got a transferred to Springfield ( I commuted to there for over a year)\u2026 <\/p>\n

As we moved on into Kansas we stopped at the first rest stop and barely could hang on\u2026 it is on a hill top and the wind<\/strong> was blowing about 40mph\u2026 didn\u2019t take long to appreciate all that but they have a nice visitor center and clean restrooms\u2026 <\/p>\n

I bought gas in Colby Ks and get in behind this guy when leaving town?  <\/p>\n

The spot on my windshield is not covering up the first of his title?  not sure what it was but guessing??? not sure I want to know\u2026<\/p>\n

It was lunch time<\/strong> about Ellis<\/a> so we stopped at the Subway there\u2026 been there before\u2026 but this time<\/strong> we ventured into town before leaving\u2026 from the interstate you see \u2026. nothing\u2026 but there is a pretty nice , old town down the hill and a real nice RV park on the little lake<\/a> they have\u2026 checked that out and may have to try it some day and visit some of the museums there\u2026 they have at least 3 museums\u2026 <\/p>\n

The first was >>???? The Bukovina Society of America<\/a>??? had to look that one<\/strong> up\u2026<\/p>\n

yes it used to be a Congregational church but now has a sign proclaiming the Bukovina Museum\u2026 or something like that\u2026<\/p>\n

of course western Kansas is pretty big Catholic country\u2026 lots and lots of big Catholic churches out there\u2026 including this one<\/strong> from the RV<\/strong> park across the little lake\u2026<\/p>\n

This may be the claim to fame of Ellis \u2013 boyhood home<\/strong> of Walter P Chrysler<\/a>\u2026 and his museum there<\/a>.<\/p>\n

And they had a Railroad Museum<\/a>\u2026 but from watching the signs, so did every town on the south side of I-70 from the Colorado border to Salina\u2026? they all have a railroad museum of some kind\u2026 one<\/strong> is the ‘\u201dOrphans railroad museum\u201d?  it was advertised about Wilson but I believe it is in Concordia\u2026 north of Salina\u2026 anyway lot<\/strong> of railroad stuff in central KS\u2026 lots of museums in KS anyway<\/a>.  Way to many to see them all\u2026 <\/p>\n

I did notice an odd combination\u2026 well maybe not\u2026 in Ellis..<\/p>\n

We saw what we could being Sunday and most things closed\u2026 so it was hit the road and get on home\u2026<\/p>\n

We got home<\/strong> about 5:30\u2026  I had a radio contact<\/strong> to make\u2026 my regular Sunday contact\u2026 then it was shower, and off to bed\u2026 got more aches and pains than I care to count\u2026 <\/p>\n
