Well, it was a day<\/strong> of nothing but staring at the screen, searching for mistakes to fix what shouldn\u2019t have been broken?  <\/p>\n

This actually started yesterday when I wanted to update the \u201ccode<\/strong> plug\u201d on my DMR handheld.  That little radio can only be changed, (add new repeaters, and change all the various functions) by the computer<\/strong> program for it.  The damn thing is way more complicated that the old ones were\u2026 used to we only need to know the frequency in and out to program a repeater.  Then they added in access tones but that is not hard to control either if you had the tone board\u2026 but then we get digital DMR radios and they have extra stuff that has to be included.  A single repeater on a dedicated set of split frequencies that used to be one channel, can now be as many as a dozen channels , all depending on the additional settings of time<\/strong> slot, talk groups, color<\/strong> codes, etc.\u2026 <\/p>\n

They put out a new code<\/strong> plug<\/strong> for this area and I wanted to add a new repeater that was to be in Ponca City , as we were going<\/strong> up Saturday to visit in-laws and it would give me a chance to test the new repeater.  Well, I got the channels, and the update on the digital contacts all moved across to my code<\/strong> plug<\/strong> (it has a lot more stuff in it since I like to use it in Kansas and Colorado and Dallas).  I then went to read off the current code<\/strong> plug<\/strong> and the program software would not talk to the handheld\u2026 wasn\u2019t going<\/strong> to no mater how I hooked it up\u2026 hum\u2026 I had a back up on the shop computer<\/strong> that I use for my other ham radio stuff so went out and got the programing done.  So today while I had time<\/strong> I went back to the laptop to find out why the program software wouldn\u2019t work\u2026 I didn\u2019t find out so I just \u201cuninstalled\u201d it and the USB driver and started over\u2026 worked then?   OK\u2026 that done I moved on to the blog\u2026 I had not updated the theme in some time<\/strong> and recently I had been trying to implement \u2018child\u201d themes so I didn\u2019t have to re-install everything every update.  \u201cThat was recommended to some time<\/strong> ago to keep all the settings of importance separate from the main theme program files so they didn\u2019t get deleted when you updated\u2026 ok\u2026 I tried that and fought with it for several hours and finally got a version going\u2026 so then, lets update the theme and see if the child works.   NOPE!\u2026 I couldn\u2019t get it to work with the new theme and find the header, menus, etc.\u2026 the new theme lost all that in the transfer\u2026 according to the forums on that theme\u2026 all I had to do was go in and save the setup on header, footer, and body and it would all pop back up\u2026 NOPE!\u2026 no matter what I tried it just didn\u2019t work out\u2026 no header, no menu on the new one and I fought to get all the sidebars back in place<\/strong> that were saved in the child theme either\u2026 but I got them in place<\/strong> and finally gave up on the theme\u2026 but in the process of flipping back and forth and the Childs\u2026 the original theme was broke\u2026 then lost\u2026 then only the child worked but not sure how as the original was missing some parts?    Finally I went back and reloaded a back up copy of the original\u2026 reset all the header, menus and images into another \u2018recommended \u201c area so they don\u2019t get deleted and got it to work\u2026 then out of curiosity\u2026 I tried the new theme and poof it was working?  I have no idea what I did or didn\u2019t do that fixed what ever it was that was not working before but at the present time\u2026 it seems to be up where it belongs\u2026 and all that just took a 12 hour day<\/strong> to not figure out what was broke and by accident make<\/strong> it work\u2026 <\/p>\n
