Nice short article but leaves out a lot.\u00a0 In today’s internet<\/strong> world a lot of the RV<\/strong> parks are supplying internet, usually you are stuck in the far corner and have problems getting in to it.<\/p>\n

There are other options for that as well as what is put below.\u00a0 I found a repeater for the laptop and bought a good flat panel antenna and a cheap 16 ft. pole from the hardware store to get the Wi-Fi from a distance, it sure helps.\u00a0 JEFA TECH<\/a>\"Long \"\"<\/p>\n

As for the phone.\u00a0 I have a Samsung Droid phone and a data plan\u2026 with a little investigation you can find that a little software like PDANET will let you do some data and tie to your computer as a modem.\u00a0 Warning though some of the phone services do put limits on how much you can use<\/strong> that and they will watch your totals.\u00a0 so be careful.\u00a0\u00a0 I use<\/strong> it when I can not get WIFI any other way.<\/p>\n

Beyond all that you can do the costly one<\/strong> of the methods and get a Sat dish from one<\/strong> of the vendors and have full time, as long as you can get your dish up and aimed \u2013 camping in the trees causes problems for that, but it is more reliable when you can see the sats.\u00a0 – WD0AJG<\/p>\n

The most popular devices in this category are the smartphones – either the Apple I Phone, the Research In Motion BlackBerry or any of the android based smartphones. Obviously these devices provide for internet<\/strong> connection in your motorhome, just as they do anywhere else. These do come with some significant disadvantages. The small screen<\/strong> size makes for a difficult browsing experience, unless the website was specifically designed for small screen<\/strong> mobile devices. Most of these devices do not have the Windows operating system which can present problems. Navigation can be a problem as you are without a traditional mouse. Cost and speed can be issues, especially if travelling abroad in your motorhome<\/strong>. However the obvious advantage is the convenience of use<\/strong> and the presumed familiarity of the user with their device.<\/p>\n

Secondly the motorhome<\/strong> traveller can choose to use<\/strong> their laptop computer with a wireless broadband 3G device to attain internet<\/strong> connection. This can be via a 3G smartphone device or a 3G USB connection device. Using your laptop computer comes with the obvious advantage of large screen, windows based (unless you are a Mac user), mouse assisted internet<\/strong> browsing experience. Again these devices can be expensive in roaming mode and a clear and full understanding of fees and charges is required, before you set off on your road<\/strong> trip<\/strong>. Also worth checking is the network coverage of your provider and how that coverage matches the locations at which you will be looking to stay overnight.<\/p>\n
