The title is a Great statement from history and old documents. \u00a0Today is the date to announce your “first go” for this year<\/strong> in new year<\/strong> resolutions. \u00a0We can wipe the slate from last<\/strong> year<\/strong> and start over. \u00a0Although last<\/strong> year<\/strong> was not all that bad. \u00a0I did accomplish or get started in a long-term program on several things but there are so many more that need<\/strong> my attention. \u00a0On the good points – I lost a little weight, started exercising more, spent a bit<\/strong> more time<\/strong> with my Ham Radio hobby (and had a great time), had a great motor home<\/strong> trip<\/strong> in October to the Balloon Fiesta, Had a great trip<\/strong> to the Caribbean and the cruise with the whole family<\/strong> and generally did well in most of my other interests. \u00a0That does not mean I accomplished even a part of the things I planned to but getting some and enjoying them is what counts right?<\/p>\n

Now for the new year:<\/p>\n

In my case, I get to wipe the slate of the “loosing weight<\/strong>” resolution – unfortunately I get to put it right back on this year<\/strong>. DAMN.<\/p>\n

I also get to extend the “get more exercise”<\/strong> resolution. \u00a0I actually was doing that last<\/strong> year<\/strong> but now I need<\/strong> to keep it up and maybe extend it a little.<\/p>\n

I know I need<\/strong> to focus on my “exit plan”<\/strong> also, I do not intend to work forever and I do hope to get out and enjoy a few other things in life<\/strong> before I can’t remember how.<\/p>\n

Here is one I have had for 35 years – express gratitude more <\/strong>and praise others more. \u00a0That is a hard one for me because I was raised to not complement those that are doing what they are supposed to. \u00a0Unfortunately what I expect from people is usually a bit<\/strong> more than the normal.<\/p>\n

I am sure I need<\/strong> to be more positive all the time<\/strong> – I do tend to be a bit<\/strong> pessimistic with some things. \u00a0But just because I have seen it fail numerous times doesn’t mean it will do it this time, for example I was perfectly happy at the first of the OSU football season<\/strong> in believing that a 7 or 8 win season<\/strong> would be good with the “rebuilding” they appeared in need<\/strong> of. \u00a0Damn they won 11 a record and won their bowl game, put a whoop on several teams they had not beat in their place in 50 years, it was a great feeling to see such spirit and excellence.<\/p>\n

I really want to spend more time with my hobbies and interests<\/strong>. \u00a0I did more last<\/strong> year<\/strong> than I had done in a long time<\/strong> – during the cold month of January I had over 130 PSK contacts and not just contest types but real discussions and I truly enjoyed that. \u00a0Met some really great people with the same interest and learned a few things. \u00a0I need<\/strong> get it going again this next month.<\/p>\n

I want to get out more in the motor home<\/strong> , even if just weekends, we need<\/strong> to be out doing and seeing.<\/p>\n

Put in a little more time on the Family tree studies<\/strong>. \u00a0Maybe even develop some plans for trips to do research in old family<\/strong> locations. \u00a0Get the family<\/strong> pictures scanned and electronically saved.<\/p>\n

Expand my study on investing<\/strong> and hope to improve knowledge there too.<\/p>\n

Start to put time<\/strong> into more \u00a0volunteer activities<\/strong>. \u00a0There are plenty of places that could use some help I just need<\/strong> to get out there and start doing it. \u00a0Maybe get involved again in some of my fraternal organizations that I belong to.<\/p>\n

There are many things we all need<\/strong> to change, or do before it is too late to do them. \u00a0The problem usually is getting started. \u00a0To that point – “JUST DO IT” comes to mind and I guess I should. – WD0AJG<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
