This morning I contemplated the projects I had on the list\u2026 which to work on, which to finish?  But first, since it was raining and wet\u2026 I needed a hair cut so called and he had open slots this morning so ran down for the 9 AM slot\u2026 get it over with\u2026 <\/p>\n

Had a nice visit with the barber, talked about having to \u201cadopt\u201d family pets as he has taken in his daughters dog\u2026 <\/p>\n

Once I got the haircut I came back home and decided that I should finish up the \u201chole\u201d cover for the downstairs closet\u2026 that hole has been there for ???? 5 years now\u2026 I had gotten the trim board the other day<\/strong> and got it cut yesterday and glued onto the piece of sheetrock that came out of the hole\u2026 and the trim would make it look<\/strong> a bit<\/strong> better when put back\u2026 so today , I got it finished up and put in place..<\/p>\n

We had to cut that hole to get a phone line run<\/strong> in as things didn\u2019t come into the house like it was wired up?  so with the alarm system needing to be first on the phone line we had to run<\/strong> an extra line to get it to the alarm back to the box then into the internet router and modem\u2026anyway it also is a good spot for the pest guys to get in and put bug dust once a year\u2026 it sure helps keep down the bugs\u2026 we haven\u2019t had any real problems since we hired it done and they come once a month and when ever we have other problems\u2026 don\u2019t have to fight back the spiders and stuff all the time\u2026 Anyway the hole is now covered, not real pretty but hey, it is in the closet ceiling\u2026 a bit<\/strong> of paint and it will all blend in\u2026 and still easy to take out when we need<\/strong> to open it up\u2026 <\/p>\n

It seems that these days, my being retired puts a whole different light on my projects.  I can start off to get one<\/strong> done but before I get it done I may end up working on something else.  My priorities are a lot different now.  I am not in that rush that I \u201cmust\u201d get it done before I go back to work\u2026 now I pretty much get done things that need<\/strong> to be done but also look<\/strong> at the enjoyment factor in doing the project\u2026 short answer, if I don\u2019t enjoy it, or see some immediate benefit,  I may not do it\u2026 My case in point is that the front<\/strong> porch took me over a week to finish\u2026 it needed doing and a few years ago it would have been done in a couple of days\u2026 but now\u2026 it wasn\u2019t a big push so I worked on other things in between\u2026 mowing, (easier to ride a mower than swing a paint brush)\u2026 Another one<\/strong> of those was the plan to get on the power controllers I am building\u2026 I started to do that and looked up at the winch for the jeep top, then thought, hey I need<\/strong> to pull the top and put the mesh<\/strong> top on for summer stuff, since it is cool out right now\u2026 so I moved the mower and backed the Jeep into the shop and proceeded to pull the top but this top is not like my old one<\/strong> and the cross-bars don\u2019t fit right\u2026 that meant I had to rig up something to lift the top enough to get the mesh<\/strong> top on and let the hard top back down till I can get the cross member on the winch \u201cimprovised\u2019 to fit my new hard top\u2026 Anyway a bit<\/strong> of a strap would work for now but wouldn\u2019t be able to get it any higher than the roll bar due to the way I had to run<\/strong> it\u2026 but if I had run<\/strong> it front<\/strong> to back I probably could have lifted it all the way off\u2026 of course that was an after thought.  Anyway, I got the top up\u2026<\/p>\n

and got the mesh<\/strong> top put in place and tied down then I put the hard top back on for now\u2026 I think I will put some more bolts in the cross bar at the points where the top has slots and get some big body washers for those slots to lift the top?  Need to gather the parts and see how it will look\u2026 <\/p>\n

The mesh<\/strong> top will help keep the sun down but yet be open air enough to enjoy the cooler days\u2026 and it doesn\u2019t have to be removed like my old soft top on the old jeep\u2026 it was either Hard top, Soft top or no top\u2026 This is an in between step since the new jeeps have removable front<\/strong> parts\u2026 like the old \u201cT\u201d tops\u2026 <\/p>\n

Then it popped out\u2026! bit<\/strong> time<\/p>\n

Didn\u2019t have a pencil so there is my finger in size comparison\u2026 maybe one<\/strong> of the biggest I have seen here\u2026 ?<\/p>\n

Being retired that is how my days go\u2026 head out to get one<\/strong> thing<\/strong> done then see something and change my mine and work on something else then in the process of that I may come up with a totally different project to work on and forgot the first one<\/strong> till I get back and see the tools or something that I had prepared for the first and wonder whey I didn\u2019t get it done?  oh yea the other stuff was more interesting or important at the time\u2026 <\/p>\n

That was my day\u2026 and the sun did come out this evening about 4:30\u2026 I finished up the top swap at about 6 pm\u2026 just in time<\/strong> to test out the new top on a trip to town for pizza\u2026 <\/p>\n

An interesting day<\/strong> even if I didn\u2019t do much \u2026 <\/p>\n
