It rained much of yesterday and almost all of today\u2026 total so far in two days\u2026 2.95 inches +\/-\u2026 The rain<\/strong> came more like a mid to late fall rain\u2026 no thunder, no lightening, just persistent rain<\/strong> that fell straight down\u2026 very little wind\u2026 temps in the low 60\u2019s\u2026 just like it could be October<\/strong> or we could have been in the mountains\u2026 I remember being up there when it would have late afternoon showers like this\u2026 also remember several times it rained like this and flooded up there\u2026 guess they were having some of the same as we were\u2026 more heavy rains for them and flooding\u2026 (in spots)\u2026<\/p>\n

Rain in July\u2026 more Like October<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

I did take off early and got some breakfast\u2026 had me a Jalapeno Cheddar biscuit at Whataburger\u2026 not bad\u2026then went to the store and picked up some groceries and things we needed, then back home<\/strong> and on some paperwork\u2026 took off for lunch, after having to dry off the stupid dog twice\u2026 one<\/strong> will take off in any weather , one<\/strong> won\u2019t get out in the rain\u2026 even if she is about to explode\u2026 anyway we went back to Whataburger for lunch\u2026and on the way in captured this for an idea of how much rain..<\/p>\n

On our way to Whataburger I told Sherrie \u201c I had that strange feeling when I went early I would be back\u2026 ha\u2026 \u201c<\/p>\n

After lunch<\/strong> I got home<\/strong> and it was still raining\u2026 who would of thought all day<\/strong> long\u2026 so I did what I could and then sat out on the back deck to enjoy the cool\u2026 although I had to put on some warmer clothes as shorts and rain<\/strong> and wet feet just don\u2019t work well with me at 60 degrees\u2026 I did some reading and pictures\u2026<\/p>\n

Small bird that sure can squawk loud\u2026 Little Blue Herron ( I think)\u2026 as opposed to the Great Blues we have here as well\u2026did some other stuff but I also started up some Green Chili\u2026 This time I made it with some of the pulled pork<\/strong> I had frozen a few months ago\u2026 and it turned out ok\u2026 a different taste with the smoked pork<\/strong> flavor\u2026 I need<\/strong> to do some pulled pork<\/strong> that is a bit more \u2026. Mexican and save that back for this <\/p>\n

\"1-SAM_1710\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The only real way to cook green chili is in a cast iron pot\u2026 and slow simmer it till the flavors are really blended out\u2026 <\/p>\n

\"1-SAM_1709\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Then serve it over bean and cheese burritos or hamburgers or \u2026 just eat it as chili with tortilla chips?  but our normal is on the burritos\u2026 <\/p>\n

This evening I made it out to the Ham Radio but the conditions were worse than they were last winter?  Some were even going down to 80 meters to work contacts and that just doesn\u2019t happen in summer with the noise and all\u2026 but oh well\u2026 I worked on some plane parts while I waited for something better to happen on the radio, which it didn\u2019t so I gave up early\u2026 and that was a day\u2026 Don\u2019t ever remember this low of temps in July and 2 days of slow gentle rain<\/strong> with limited run-off\u2026 although the picture above shows a lot of water the runoff was pretty low or my pond would be filling up and it is not\u2026 the Snake River (my drain ditch) has run<\/strong> most of the time but it has been a very slow gentle flow\u2026 helps when it doesn\u2019t move the rocks down the hill\u2026 I still have some spots that need<\/strong> some more concrete to bind it up\u2026 and that will be a project for later\u2026<\/p>\n
