Catching up on things.  Friday was Tax day\u2026 I had to finish up my taxes so that was a bad day.  You work hard, you save money then you have to pay<\/strong> more to the government.  Not that I don\u2019t feel some obligation to pay<\/strong> my fair share but our tax system<\/strong> is out of control.  Would be much better if it were based on \u201cConsumption\u201d with a limit on the bottom end and not the top.  The Fair Tax<\/a> system<\/strong> sounds nice, it may not be the best alternative but much better than current\u2026 just take out all the loopholes that help only the politicians and small select groups\u2026<\/p>\n

I also took that huge pile of drift wood<\/a> to a neighbors \u201cburn pile\u201d.  Since I am inside city limits I can\u2019t have a huge bonfire so it was easier to take it and add to their pile outside the city limits.  I had put a little more on there from cleaning up in the back and cutting out some stuff that needed to be trimmed out.   <\/p>\n

Late in the evening I grilled up some marinated ground sirloin and baked potatoes that were pretty good\u2026 since they come 4 to a package we had 2 and froze two in vacuum packed bag using our new vacuum sealer\u2026 <\/p>\n

Yesterday was a slow start day.  I think I am aching from the wood<\/strong> collection and hauling but it was necessary.  <\/p>\n

To start I made a trip to Tractor Supply and picked up a repair part for the trailer<\/strong> I have.  Over the years I had bumped and banged the tail light on the driver side such that it was now broken\u2026 well broken real bad and didn\u2019t work so replacement was the option.<\/p>\n

This was the removed piece\u2026 it did have a partial red lenses on it but that and the missing half allowed the wired to corrode and the connections didn\u2019t work anymore\u2026 <\/p>\n

This is the replaced unit with the wiring all tied back and ready to hit the road\u2026 and it works! <\/p>\n

I just wish the mount had a bit<\/strong> more protection<\/strong> around it but it was not an expensive trailer<\/strong> anyway.<\/p>\n

Once that was fixed I could make my run to Lowes , again, to pick up the remainder of the topsoil and a few other parts to work on\u2026<\/p>\n

I got all the topsoil in the raised bed and got the misters and sprinklers all set.  I had to add several and fix some old ones I had saved back but now we need plants\u2026<\/p>\n

You can see that I also bought a fire<\/strong> pit that was on sale.  We might put a setting area at the end of the stairs and have a few fires in the future?  if I can get the energy to build that seating area up there?  Then again we might just set<\/strong> this out in the yard and have a small fire<\/strong> at times?  when the grass greens up a bit\u2026 ? <\/p>\n

So that was my day<\/strong> and I ended it again doing some radio as I did Friday night\u2026 slowing adding more foreign countries and states to my Worked All list.  <\/p>\n
