IT was a snowball thing<\/strong>. Saw something on CEO<\/strong> pay, then something else, then had to do a search and BOY!… I knew it was rotten but not that rotten. No matter what anyone says, including CEO’s, they are not worth that much… See figure two below, it is very telling in that regard. If a CEO<\/strong> increased the profit of his company, he should get equivalent increase in pay<\/strong>. He should also suffer when he “screws-up” but none do. They all get “golden parachutes” or “golden – handshakes”. That just plain SUCKS!<\/p>\n

According to a Mercer CEO<\/strong> compensation study based on proxies issued in 2008, CEOs at the 50 largest U.S. corporations pulled in just under $14 million a year<\/strong>. But CEOs at medium-sized companies brought in $9.4 million; and CEOs at small companies got $4.7 million. <\/p>\n

On average, at the 350 companies surveyed by Mercer, CEOs got $7.3 million. That comes to $28,000 per working<\/strong> day<\/strong> \u2014 a little less than the average worker makes in a year<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

The Corporate Library, an independent research firm, found in its survey that average CEO<\/strong> compensation in 2007 came to $5.3 million. That comes to $20,400 per working<\/strong> day, again lower than the average worker’s annual salary.<\/p>\n

According to the Economic Policy Institute report, in 1965, U.S. CEOs in major companies earned 24 times more than a typical worker; by 2007, they made 275 times more. U.S. CEOs also make<\/strong> far more than CEOs in other advanced countries, the report<\/strong> said.<\/p>\n

Monster member Getting Serious posts: If the minimum wage had risen at the same pace as American productivity since 1968, it would be $13.80 an hour<\/strong>. If the minimum wage had risen at the same pace as executive pay<\/strong> since 1990, it would be $25.50 an hour<\/strong>. If the average pay<\/strong> for production workers had risen at the same level as CEO<\/strong> pay<\/strong> since 1990, their annual salaries would be $120,491, not $24,668. In 1980, the average CEO<\/strong> at a major corporation made as much as 97 minimum-wage workers. In 2000, this CEO<\/strong> made as much as 1,223 minimum-wage workers.<\/p>\n
