The heat index has hit that but the actual temps have been great for us\u2026 especially compared to previous summers when we were hitting 112 at this time\u2026 It is so nice to be able to get out on the back deck and enjoy some time<\/strong> in the quiet of the morning<\/strong> or the evening and it is not so stinking hot you turn and go back in as soon as you step out\u2026 <\/p>\n

It was a regular day for me\u2026 started with my oatmeal and checked work stuff\u2026 had a few calls and few emails to answer and answers to give\u2026 but before all that I grabbed some time<\/strong> outside\u2026 watching the birds as they are really active early in the morning\u2026 <\/p>\n

This is how the wild blackberry gets transplanted around\u2026 The resident mocking bird had this berry about 50 feet from the bush and didn\u2019t eat but maybe half\u2026<\/p>\n

The young are still flying in and begging a free meal\u2026this one<\/strong> got ignored\u2026 <\/p>\n

Got this female hummer working the hanging plants\u2026 <\/p>\n

We also have a family of Kites that keep an eye on things\u2026 looking for easy meals\u2026<\/p>\n

This male hummer was guarding the feeder\u2026 gets a short drink then sits in the tree and scares off everyone else\u2026 <\/p>\n

I think it is a green Heron?  looking for some frogs and small fish\u2026 <\/p>\n

Coming to the feeder\u2026 they are too small to actually use the perch\u2026 they have to land on the flower\u2026 <\/p>\n

Backing to guarding\u2026<\/p>\n

oh and the wife\u2019s poor little dog\u2026  got all her hair shaved off and now she shivers when it is too cool\u2026 like 73 degrees is too cool\u2026 so she gets into the blankets\u2026 actually I helped by pulling it up around her but she didn\u2019t jump out till she was plenty warmed up\u2026 \u2026<\/p>\n

Beyond all that and the work this morning<\/strong> I made my trip<\/strong> into town\u2026 picked up some more Freon for the motorhome as Atwood’s had it on sale this weekend\u2026 and then lunch with wife.  We went to Taco Hell (Bell) for a change\u2026 hadn\u2019t been to the new one<\/strong> and they moved maybe 2 years ago\u2026 It wasn\u2019t bad. We are cheap experts so we may try it again. <\/p>\n

After lunch I got home, put in a can of Freon and then took the motorhome for a run up to Perry\u2026 trying to work some of the rough shifting out of the transmission.  When I had it serviced back in April it came back with a really rough shift into and out of 4th gear\u2026 (automatic)\u2026 I called the Freightliner shop and they said drive a some to see if it smooth’s back out if not then I would need to take it to Allison to have the Transmission looked at\u2026 I figured to help it a little with some Transmission treatment that was supposed to smooth out rough shifting and stuff and so  I put the treatment in and took the road trip\u2026 by the time<\/strong> I got home<\/strong> it had smooth out on the downshift a lot<\/strong> and was near normal but the upshift was still a bit soft into 4th gear but I think maybe it was maybe some sediment or something with it having set over the winter\u2026 I will probably need to get it in and have the transmission drained and filter changed pretty soon anyway\u2026 big motorhomes are a lot<\/strong> more maintenance than one<\/strong> expects\u2026 but it is the price<\/strong> of comfort I guess\u2026 <\/p>\n

The rest of the evening was filled with heating up leftovers for dinner and making a trip<\/strong> to Walmart and then Sonic for a half<\/strong> price<\/strong> shake\u2026 we shared a small\u2026 so it didn\u2019t totally blow the calories but probably we could have done without?  but they sure are good and half<\/strong> price\u2026 <\/p>\n

So that was a Thursday, August 1, 2013\u2026 not bad\u2026 would have been better if I had won the lottery!<\/p>\n
