I have been working<\/strong> the past few days on getting the motion lights on the corner<\/strong> of the house working<\/strong> again\u2026 They never really worked good but for the past year<\/strong> we have just had to turn<\/strong> them off at night<\/strong> or they would stay on\u2026 <\/p>\n

I figured that if they came on they must be ok, and all they need is adjustment\u2026 I fought that a bunch when they first went up and now am thinking it was just bad lights\u2026 <\/p>\n

I had gotten dome dual zone one<\/strong> when we first put them up\u2026 since the eves of the house are so high figured that would be good\u2026 from the history if you pointed the main sensor out it caught all the damn trees swaying in the breeze\u2026  and were on nearly all the time\u2026 so I kept fighting and never really got them so they didn\u2019t false trigger but were working<\/strong> some\u2026 but now\u2026 it is a real mess\u2026It all started last week when I figured I could add one<\/strong> to the front small garage door as some of my family never seem to be able to turn<\/strong> that light off\u2026 so we bought new ones for that one<\/strong> and the one<\/strong> on the shop office\u2026 spent a couple<\/strong> of hours Friday getting them up and in test<\/strong> mode\u2026 adjusted fine\u2026 got them working<\/strong> and left them for the night<\/strong> test\u2026 <\/p>\n

And this is the new one<\/strong> installed\u2026 didn\u2019t like that it was so big and pointed down but if they work that would be ok\u2026 well it didn\u2019t work out that way\u2026 <\/p>\n

When I got these up I went around and readjusted the four corner<\/strong> lights as well\u2026<\/p>\n

Then when the sun went down\u2026 a couple<\/strong> of tests and they came on\u2026. but \u2026. wouldn\u2019t go off?  and two of the corner<\/strong> eve lights were on and off and on and off and just oh crap\u2026<\/p>\n

Saturday, I did more testing and more adjusting\u2026 Sunday more adjusting\u2026 finally\u2026 Monday morning at about 4am\u2026I turned them all off\u2026 <\/p>\n

Monday I took one<\/strong> new one<\/strong> down but kept working<\/strong> with the eve lights.  They were no better Monday night\u2026 mostly either on or on?  So Tuesday I took the other new one<\/strong> off and boxed it up and got them ready to return\u2026<\/p>\n

Today  I returned them and explained that I couldn\u2019t get them to go offer in any mode other than test<\/strong> once it got dark.   Once I got my credit I looked at the other motion lights Flood types to replace the eve lights and also found they had some cheap ones (these new things cost $70 each)\u2026 they had some add on socket types for $10 and a 180 deg single zone for the eve at $25 so I got two of the $10 and one<\/strong> of the $25.  Today I have the $10 addition on the light above at the garage door, and it appears to work fine\u2026 comes on when I walk within the zone and off at the desired time\u2026even in the dark.  I also replaced one<\/strong> eve-corner<\/strong> with the cheap $25 unit  (they are dual light bulb types that use flood lights)\u2026 and that one<\/strong> seems to be working<\/strong> fine. I tested it in the dark as well\u2026 and the zone it covers is more where I want it to be (close to the house)\u2026 so I guess I will go get a couple<\/strong> more of the cheap ones and dump these dual zone pains ?  oh and I replaced all the bulbs with  LED spot light bulbs as Walmart has a bunch of them on sale\u2026 on sale they are still $20 to $25 each but for an LED-dimmable bulb that is cheap\u2026 guess the shoppers at Walmart are not into \u201cover time\u201d savings only cheap now type stuff.. even though they should save about 7 times the cost over time?\u2026 I figured if mine keep staying on all night\u2026 they will pay out this year?  just hope I can get them to only come on when I need them to?  <\/p>\n

Tomorrow is another day to tackle another problem?  or swap out two more of these flood lights ? <\/p>\n
