Well it has been a few days and I have been busy\u2026 The Grandson came up and spent almost a week here\u2026 During this time<\/strong> we were really busy\u2026 <\/p>\n

He and his mom got here Wednesday evening and Thursday morning we were off to Grand Parent University for two days of class work\u2026 We checked in and then checked out our dorm rooms\u2026<\/p>\n

We got a suite with 4 bedrooms\u2026 he had his own room.  I can\u2019t say much for the beds\u2026 sure glad we only had to do this one<\/strong> night\u2026!<\/p>\n

Grandma (MaMaw) got him fixed with sunscreen first thing\u2026<\/p>\n

We then road the bus over to have the opening seminar\u2026 was a pretty large crowd there\u2026 took 4 buses\u2026<\/p>\n

after the opening we made a trip<\/strong> to the Equestrian center and had a short intro about the styles and types of things the equestrian team does\u2026<\/p>\n

After lunch<\/strong> (again I remember the food was a lot<\/strong> better 40 years ago?) we went to the first class.  He had chosen Videography\u2026<\/p>\n

The group in this class getting started.  We would be making a commercial during the next two days\u2026 <\/p>\n

parts were shot at Theta Pond\u2026 <\/p>\n

and some in the studio\u2026 <\/p>\n

\"1-IMG_4148\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Then you had to learn about editing and putting stuff together\u2026<\/p>\n

\"1-IMG_4157\"<\/a><\/p>\n

And running the equipment\u2026<\/p>\n

\"1-IMG_4168\"<\/a><\/p>\n

And of course at the end you had Graduation on Friday afternoon\u2026<\/p>\n

Once that was over we had to go meet up with his Great Aunt and Uncle for dinner\u2026 <\/p>\n

Saturday we made a trip<\/strong> up to visit<\/strong> his Great Grand parents<\/strong> and he got to ride on a tractor\u2026 <\/p>\n

Sunday was a learning trip\u2026 first up\u2026 the Gloss Mountains\u2026 and probably Oklahoma\u2019s smallest state Park\u2026 ?<\/p>\n

Of course we made a run into Woodward and had lunch<\/strong> then off to Boiling Springs\u2026 and they were still boiling after all these years!..<\/p>\n

Although the weather this week has been exceptional for June\/July\u2026 nothing in the 90\u2019s (after the 100 on Thursday at GPU)\u2026<\/p>\n

Then off to Alabaster Caverns and see some real Alabaster crystals\u2026<\/p>\n

\"1-IMG_4359\"<\/a><\/p>\n

and one<\/strong> bat\u2026 well ?<\/p>\n

maybe two?<\/p>\n

\"1-IMG_4398\"<\/a><\/p>\n

We also stopped at the Freedom Jail\u2026 !\u2026 but he didn\u2019t have to stay\u2026<\/p>\n

On the way home\u2026 a stop at the Salt Plains to dig for Selenite crystals\u2026 after they got tired of digging we walked around and picked up a pot full from old digs that were now visible after the rains\u2026 much easier to pick up those than trying to find your own in a hole\u2026<\/p>\n

Monday they had planned on a trip<\/strong> to Tulsa to tour Blue Bell Ice Cream but they were down for repair so that trip<\/strong> was cancelled\u2026 whew!  MaMaw was pooped out anyway\u2026 so they played in the front yard a little and rested a little\u2026<\/p>\n

Then Tuesday he was all set to go home<\/strong> but after over-eating for lunch<\/strong> he \u201cpurged\u201d his stomach in my jeep and that caused a one<\/strong> day delay as we had to wash everything out\u2026 clothes and car-seat and jeep\u2026 so they finally got home<\/strong> Wednesday evening\u2026 just in time<\/strong> for a big 4th in Dallas\u2026 I think his Daddy has some big popping plans\u2026for the 4th\u2026<\/p>\n

In all this MaMaw and I have figured out why our parents<\/strong> were so nice to the grand kids\u2026 <\/p>\n

    \n
  1. When they come to visit<\/strong> you go do stuff you wouldn\u2019t normally do on your own\u2026 <\/li>\n
  2. You learn a lot<\/strong> about them if you spend some time<\/strong> with them\u2026 and you learn some  things about yourself too\u2026 (I learned I have a shorter tolerance than I used to for the constant talking, uncontrolled behavior, silly things that a 7 year old doesn\u2019t understand yet, that drives older people nuts\u2026)<\/li>\n
  3. At the end you know you can send them to their home<\/strong> with a smile.<\/li>\n
  4. You can remind their parents<\/strong> that you remember some kids that acted just like them years ago\u2026 <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    When my kids were younger I told them I would give it all back to them some day\u2026 I didn\u2019t realize I would be able to do it so soon and enjoy it\u2026 <\/p>\n
