I have written several times about my constant war against the Common House Sparrow as a pest.  They attack and kill the blue birds<\/strong>, they take over the nests and they even can fend off the Purple Martins.  I had started using a trap in this post \u201cGood and Bad Birds\u201d<\/a> and here \u201cSparrow Trap Revisited\u201d<\/a>.  When I bought the first trap I also got some smaller ones that fit into the Blue Bird<\/strong> house<\/strong>.  I had not used them as I was not sure of capturing Sparrow over hurting Blue Birds, but this week it became a much stronger need<\/strong>.  The Sparrows had taken over a Blue Bird<\/strong> house<\/strong>.  I had watched them for a day<\/strong> or more coming and going and they had successfully chased out the blue birds<\/strong> so stronger measures<\/strong> are in need<\/strong>.  I installed the Van Ert trap<\/a>.  It has worked quit well\u2026 The day<\/strong> before yesterday I caught both of a pair that had taken over the blue bird<\/strong> house<\/strong>.  They now do not exist and will not cause<\/strong> further harm.  Today I noticed another sparrow had decided that this was a great place and he was moving in\u2026 so I placed the trap back on the door and wham<\/strong>, caught in less than an hour\u2026 now I wait to see if he had a lady friend<\/strong> following.  If so, they will both meet up in the trash<\/strong>.   I also noticed I have 3 more in the other trap\u2026 I had some old stale corn chips<\/strong> so I crumbled them up and put them in the trap early this morning and caught 3 this afternoon<\/strong>\u2026 Just a few more and we will have thinned out the pests<\/strong> substantially this early\u2026 <\/p>\n

Later in the afternoon<\/strong> I took the motorhome to the diesel<\/strong> shop.  Need to get the oil changed and all the filters changed and probably have them work on the injectors as it barely would run<\/strong> \u2026 no power at all and the check engine light was on\u2026 I think the treatment<\/strong> I put in the tank<\/strong> this winter<\/strong> didn\u2019t treat too good\u2026 ? <\/p>\n

Yesterday I noticed the Goose pair is trying to raise a brood again on the little pond out back\u2026<\/p>\n

Oh and they seem to have some neighbors but not sure they have started a nest?<\/p>\n

Later in the evening I spotted the bat but never could get a picture<\/strong>\u2026<\/p>\n

But the sunset<\/strong> was something else\u2026<\/p>\n
