Additional <strong class='StrictlyAutoTagBold'>hail<\/strong> reports were coming in around San Antonio and the lower Rio Grande Valley. The <strong class='StrictlyAutoTagBold'>severe weather<\/strong> is forecast to ramp up later Tuesday into Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;For early January, this storm <strong class='StrictlyAutoTagBold'>system<\/strong> is very unusual,&#8221; AccuWeather Expert <strong class='StrictlyAutoTagBold'>Senior<\/strong> Meteorologist Dan Kottlowski said. &#8220;It is something you would normally see in March.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Enough humid and warm air will be pulled northward ahead of the <strong class='StrictlyAutoTagBold'>system<\/strong> to fuel very violent <strong class='StrictlyAutoTagBold'>storms<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The potential [exists] for damaging winds, large <strong class='StrictlyAutoTagBold'>hail<\/strong> and tornadoes with an area of very heavy <strong class='StrictlyAutoTagBold'>rain<\/strong> that could cause flooding problems,&#8221; AccuWeather Expert <strong class='StrictlyAutoTagBold'>Senior<\/strong> Meteorologist Ken Clark said.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong class='StrictlyAutoTagBold'>severe weather<\/strong> threat zone will include the Hill Country of Texas northeastward to Dallas and northeastern Texas and southward to Houston.<\/p>\n<p>The worst thunderstorms are expected to develop Tuesday <strong class='StrictlyAutoTagBold'>night<\/strong> into the day Wednesday, especially across southeastern and eastern Texas.<\/p>\n<p>Be prepared to take shelter if a severe thunderstorm or tornado warning is issued for your area. Have a weather radio and extra batteries on hand.<\/p>\n<p>Flooding will also be a big concern with the thunderstorms across southeastern and eastern Texas, since 1-3 inches of <strong class='StrictlyAutoTagBold'>rain<\/strong> can fall over a very short time. There may be isolated <strong class='StrictlyAutoTagBold'>rain<\/strong> amounts of 4-5 inches, according to Kottlowski.<\/p>\n<p>A squall line of severe <strong class='StrictlyAutoTagBold'>storms<\/strong> will progress across eastern Texas and Louisiana by Wednesday <strong class='StrictlyAutoTagBold'>afternoon<\/strong> and evening.<\/p>\n<p>FLASH FLOOD WATCH in effect until Thursday, Jan 10, 12:00am.<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;FLASH FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH WEDNESDAY EVENING &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>THE FLASH FLOOD WATCH CONTINUES FOR<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>* A PORTION OF SOUTHEAST TEXAS &#8230;INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES &#8230;AUSTIN &#8230;BRAZORIA &#8230;BRAZOS &#8230;BURLESON &#8230;CHAMBERS &#8230; COLORADO &#8230;FORT BEND &#8230;GALVESTON &#8230;GRIMES &#8230;HARRIS &#8230;HOUSTON &#8230; JACKSON &#8230;LIBERTY &#8230;MADISON &#8230;MATAGORDA &#8230;MONTGOMERY &#8230;POLK &#8230; SAN JACINTO &#8230;TRINITY &#8230;WALKER &#8230;WALLER &#8230;WASHINGTON AND WHARTON.<\/p>\n<p>* THROUGH WEDNESDAY EVENING<\/p>\n<p>* PERIODS OF RAIN WILL CONTINUE TODAY.
