Yesterday I was looking in the paper<\/strong> and found 3 coupons for Staples.  I guess they wanted to get a jump on Black Friday so they had some special deals<\/strong> for Wednesday\u2026 Pretty slick deals<\/strong> too if you knew what you were after.  The least of the bunch was a $25 off one<\/strong> item. The best of the bunch was 25% off one<\/strong> single items but it could not be a computer or tablet or any of those special things\u2026 Well I have been looking at getting a new Ultra zoom digital camera<\/strong> for some time\u2026 about a year\u2026 I take a long time<\/strong> to get things\u2026 ha!  I had looked at the Nikon P500 digital camera<\/strong> with 36X zoom\u2026 I have family that got one<\/strong> a some time<\/strong> ago and (actually the previous model) and it took good pictures\u2026 But when I was about to get one<\/strong> and they were on sale, Wal-Mart sold out before I got there\u2026. ooops\u2026 The next on my list was the Canon SX40 but when Nikon came out with the new model<\/strong> to the 500 \u2013 the 510 or something?  I figured that Canon would do the same pretty soon.  So I waited, figuring it would be the SX50 \u2026 Well it was and they just started hitting stores recently\u2026 I had seen one<\/strong> and it looked just like the SX40\u2026 maybe a little bigger but it would zoom to 50X as opposed to the 35X\u2026 At the current price<\/strong> I was set to wait till after xmas to pick one<\/strong> up on sale\u2026 Well when the staples coupon came with a 25% off\u2026 I jumped on that one<\/strong> as quick as I could\u2026 got mine this morning, no lines no black Friday crowds\u2026 in fact I don\u2019t think there was anyone else using the paper<\/strong> discounts today as when I got there at 10:30 they guy had to look at it to figure out what it would cover, so they had not seen one<\/strong> yet\u2026 The base price<\/strong> for this camera<\/strong> (Canon SX50<\/a>) is $450 and I walked out for $367 (tax included)\u2026 how cool is that? <\/p>\n

I got home, charged the battery and did just a few test shots this evening\u2026 <\/p>\n

Ok, here are three more a little earlier in the day\u2026 I will start close up and back out so you can spot the tree\u2026<\/p>\n

Tree to the right of the picture\u2026 above you can see the rock next to the base!  Barely tell it is there in this one..<\/p>\n

No zoom and tree<\/strong> is almost in the center.  go back up to the one<\/strong> above and spot the tops of the two fence posts???  They are the highest ones in the fence on that dam\u2026<\/p>\n

Now that is some zoom!\u2026 and pretty clear at that.   The only real problem is getting out there\u2026 you can\u2019t hold it steady enough so I will have to use the tripod a lot\u2026 <\/p>\n

Now I have just ordered a few little things \u2013 lens filters and lens hood and cleaning kit.  Amazing what they can do with these things\u2026<\/p>\n
