Today was a travel day<\/strong> and in that vein we took a little side<\/strong> trip.  We had about 400 miles to go to get to our next location<\/strong> but in the way was a chance to do a little tourist stuff\u2026 <\/p>\n

First off this morning<\/strong> we visited the Missions of San Antonio.  They are National parks and one<\/strong> of our group has a National Parks passport book that he wanted to get stamped\u2026 ok that was fine with me but I had no idea<\/strong> just how neat these missions would be\u2026 I have been to several old missions in New<\/strong> Mexico<\/strong> and other areas but these are missions that are still , to some degree, in use<\/strong>.  The Main church is still an operational church, although much of the mission is the national park\u2026 and it was free\u2026 <\/p>\n

There was even a young lady getting pictures taken for her wedding\u2026 they were hustled all over the grounds to get the proper background<\/strong> for just the right<\/strong> picture<\/strong>\u2026 <\/p>\n

Once we got back on the road<\/strong> we headed west on I-10 to a small town \u201cComfort\u201d  and decided it was about lunch<\/strong> so why not..<\/p>\n

I had some really good chicken<\/strong> tortilla soup and a turkey<\/strong> sandwich\u2026<\/p>\n

In this small town of \u201cComfort\u201d they do have a small problem and have put up signs<\/strong> for that\u2026<\/p>\n

We were busy reading all the signs<\/strong> of history and how old things were then came on this one<\/strong>\u2026<\/p>\n

Figuring that was enough of this stop,  we made the run<\/strong> from there up through some more of the hill country<\/strong>\u2026 through Fredericksburg, which I really would like to go back so I can look<\/strong> around but we were already late\u2026<\/p>\n

On the way we passed through a small town that had two rather large cemetery’s on the south end, <\/p>\n

and another on the north end and just outside town there was a ranch<\/strong> named the <\/p>\n

\u201cBuzzards Roost\u201d\u2026 for which we saw plenty<\/strong> of buzzards on both sides of town\u2026 so with a town of maybe a 1000 people and more dead than living???? and all the buzzards, we did not have a warm and fuzzy feeling about that town so kept right<\/strong> on moving, least someone ore something<\/strong> might figure<\/strong> us for plot candidates???<\/p>\n

We made it to the wonderful West Texas towns of Midland and Odessa about 6pm and got ourselves unloaded and prepared to get back to work <\/em><\/u><\/strong>in the morning<\/strong>\u2026 damn those 4 letter<\/strong> words..<\/p>\n
