Yes, it was a good day<\/strong> to get out and about but first, we had to attend the Cowgirls game<\/strong> against Colorado.\u00a0 They are still in the WNIT and with todays win they are now in the final 4 of that tournament.\u00a0 Granted it is not the NCAA but maybe they should have been in that big one?\u00a0 They are doing pretty special for having NO seniors on this team\u2026<\/p>\n

They have finished off an old Big 8 and 12 opponent and now get to play again at home\u2026 Great for the fans and the numbers keep going up\u2026<\/p>\n

I think maybe they are playing to a higher level in part to those lost this year\u2026<\/p>\n

When we got over the win a little and got home<\/strong> to put on some shorts\u2026 Shorts just don\u2019t seem right for the game\u2026 we took off on an afternoon adventure.<\/p>\n

Sherrie had not been to Cushing and we had always said we need to find out where the Eagle rescue was that the Iowa Tribe maintains\u2026<\/a>\u00a0 On our way down we stopped at the Perkins museum that is in progress\u2026 they started with a single building<\/strong> and now it is growing to be something really special.\u00a0 I you have not stopped, you should.\u00a0 We hope to get back when it is open some day..<\/p>\n

Of course they have Frank Eaton\u2019s house (Pistol Pete of OSU<\/strong> fame \u2013 well he was famous before OSU<\/strong> adopted him as a mascot\u2026 ha! this picture<\/strong> shows just a small piece of what they have..<\/p>\n

In Perkins there is a building<\/strong> that has a mural painted the full length\u2026 about 1\/3 of a city block long that depicts Perkins and the surrounding area\u2026 here is a pano I put together of that wall painting\u2026\u00a0 Pretty cool!<\/p>\n

At the Iowa Nation aviary I got a picture<\/strong> of this\u2026 ever seen an Eagle Rescue vehicle?\u00a0 They give tours on Saturday and Sunday by appointment only\u2026 so call<\/strong> ahead\u2026<\/p>\n

After leaving this we made a swing through Vinson, OK.\u00a0 Guess you have never heard of that either?\u00a0 I hadn\u2019t and seems it is close to several of the Lions club Boys Ranch facilities<\/a>\u2026<\/p>\n

We then headed East on Hwy 105\u2026 never heard of that either\u2026 it runs through the small town of Tryon\u2026 most of it is about gone but must have been important once upon a time\u2026<\/p>\n

Not all the buildings looked this gone\u2026 many were in pretty good condition<\/strong> but I just didn\u2019t get many pictures there\u2026<\/p>\n

We then made our way through Agra, OK\u2026 a bit larger town and still somewhat active then on to Cushing\u2026<\/p>\n

In Cushing I should of taken a lot more pictures but was too damn busy looking\u2026 ha!\u2026 I did get these two building<\/strong> paintings\u2026<\/p>\n

The President had been in Cushing last week to talk\u2026 glad I wasn\u2019t there for that\u2026 I have a real hard time<\/strong> believing anything he or any other politician says anymore\u2026 and if they could only accomplish 20% of all the promises we would all be rich and living out our dreams\u2026 The amazing part of Cushing is the Tank Farms there\u2026 nearly every large pipeline company has a huge area of tanks and those tanks are bigger than any I have seen\u2026 and they are still putting up m ore\u2026 what a place but they are all semi- hidden from view most to the south of town but some to the north\u2026 I never realized that there were literally hundreds of those huge storage tanks already there and had been there for many years\u2026\u00a0\u00a0 It is by the following account, the largest oil storage facility in the world<\/a>\u2026\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

When we had seen all that we could stand of the tanks\u2026. we made a short stop at McD\u2019s to use the facilities\u2026 oh and get an ice cream cone\u2026<\/p>\n

We then hit the path back north to HWY 51 and then back into Stillwater and home\u2026 what a great day\u2026 to finish that off I grabbed a cold beverage and placed my butt in a chair on the back deck\u2026 enjoyed the sundown and the bat\u2019s\u2026 yes we have some tree bats in our area as they were grabbing some of the larger bugs\u2026 I also made a call<\/strong> to Dad and discussed his day\u2026 great ending \u2026\u00a0 Tomorrow?\u00a0 I have a list and it will not all be fun\u2026<\/p>\n
