That is what happens when you travel to the other side<\/strong> of the world\u2026 <\/p>\n

I started out Saturday evening.  Getting to the OKC Airport at about 5pm\u2026 flight<\/strong> was at 7pm to Dallas\u2026 <\/p>\n

That flight<\/strong> was short\u2026 about 34 minutes flying but there is about 34 minutes between while you set<\/strong> on the plane\u2026.. Didn\u2019t feel too bad at this point<\/strong>\u2026<\/p>\n

I decided to walk the distance in the moving walk-way tunnel over the highway from terminal C to D\u2026 I could walk it in less time than the milk-run tram from C to D\u2026 as it would make stops in A and B first\u2026 that walk way is one<\/strong> long desolate place<\/strong>\u2026 plenty<\/strong> of light at 8pm but I saw only two people<\/strong> up there besides me\u2026<\/p>\n

This was bout the middle of the hall\u2026. I got a picture aimed the other way and it was empty as well\u2026 but all the \u201cmoving walks\u201d were working so that was ok\u2026 <\/p>\n

When I checked in I tried to beg for a better seat<\/strong> on the long flight<\/strong> but none of us really knew how the seats were set<\/strong> up\u2026 all I knew is\u2026 I was in economy<\/strong>.  That usually means a seat<\/strong> barely wide enough, with not enough leg room as my knees are forced into the seat<\/strong> in front, and a hard cushion that after about 4 hours starts to rub MY ASS<\/strong> RAW.  I know, my ass should have plenty<\/strong> of padding but it is damn old padding and no longer has the ability to withstand long periods of pressure\u2026 Anyway, they were not able to do anything<\/strong> with my seat<\/strong> assignment.  The  number was 29 for the row so I figured I was in the back but it was a 747 so who knew\u2026 the last one<\/strong> I was on, the economy<\/strong> started at bout row 22 (just two weeks ago).   <\/p>\n

I checked in at Dallas and they said I had premium economy<\/strong> and there was nothing I could do about moving up?  oh?  Premium?  I was guessing that my near million miles on AA<\/strong> might  have helped a little.<\/p>\n

As we, there were 4 of us flying on the same flight<\/strong> together, joked about it as they all had seats in the 65 to 73 row range?  I had to explain that I had no idea why I got a better seat<\/strong> but I did go on line<\/strong> a month ago and picked the best that I could from the charts\u2026 well when I got on the plane it was a total shock to me to find that I was in the first row of the \u201cpremium economy<\/strong>\u201d and that seat<\/strong> was very nearly a business class seat<\/strong> on any other flight<\/strong>\u2026 it had a moving foot rest, would lay down almost flat (but when you did it was as hard a a rock).  So I enjoyed that for the 18 hours I was on that plane\u2026 <\/p>\n

Yes the flight<\/strong> from Dallas to Brisbane is supposed to be 16 hour<\/strong> plus a few minutes but along about the international date line<\/strong>\u2026 the pilot came on waking everyone up, saying we would have to stop in Noumea Island<\/a> for fuel as there was bad weather in Brisbane and we might need extra if we had to circle to land\u2026  Later after we got to Perth I had to look up Noumea and found out it was New Calidonia<\/a>.  You know the place<\/strong> where McHales Navy guys were always going<\/strong> for R&R\u2026 Well I didn\u2019t see anything<\/strong> but the little of the airport<\/strong> and some of the mountains around the airport<\/strong>.  There is supposed to be some really neat places there but we were only there for fuel and no one<\/strong> could get off the plane.  In fact it must have been a little rare for that airport<\/strong> to get big planes in as one<\/strong> of the guys at the airport<\/strong> came out to take pictures of us\u2026 ha!<\/p>\n

It took a little over an hour<\/strong> to get the fuel, then we were off again.  Got into Brisbane a little over an hour<\/strong> late and they said that our flight<\/strong> to Perth would be held for us as there was about 35 people<\/strong> on this plane that should be on the Perth connection<\/strong>.   Well they didn\u2019t give too many directions or any real assistance in getting us through the passport controls or to the \u201cbus<\/strong> that was waiting on us\u201d etc.\u2026 Once we got through passport control<\/strong> and had to drag our luggage with us out of the airport<\/strong> (they told me it was checked all the way though but I didn’t understand we had to go from the \u2018international\u201d airport<\/strong> to the \u201cdomestic\u201d airport<\/strong> in Brisbane\u2026 that is a 10 minute bus<\/strong> ride\u2026. we all got out to the bus<\/strong> but it was full and took off\u2026 we had to wait for about another 10 minutes for the next bus<\/strong> and when we got to the \u201cdomestic\u201d airport<\/strong> we were too late for our Perth connection<\/strong>\u2026. <\/p>\n

They were fairly nice and got us all on a flight<\/strong> that went to Melbourne then on to Perth but that cost us about 5 hours getting to Perth\u2026 While we were transiting from one<\/strong> airport<\/strong> to the next I noticed that the tags for Brisbane all stated \u201cQueensland \u2013 the land of sunshine\u201d\u2026 well it was not shining on this day<\/strong>\u2026 actually I should of gotten pictures during the transiting but at that point<\/strong> I was tired, wore down and had not thoughts about a camera\u2026 but I did get this from the plan to Melbourne out the window\u2026<\/p>\n

\"Brisbane-\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Yep, sun- shine all right\u2026<\/p>\n

We got into Perth, collected our bags, made our way to the outside and got a \u201ctraffic control<\/strong>\u201d guy to get us a cab big enough fro 4 guys with 10 bags\u2026 it was a bit<\/strong> crowded but we made it to the hotel\u2026 oh they drive on the wrong side<\/strong> of the car and on the wrong side<\/strong> of the road here\u2026 but I was too tired to care\u2026 We checked in I hung up a few things for tomorrow, got some stuff charged up, and then we all went to dinner\u2026 walked all the way down to the pier and had \u2026..  a burger\u2026 I am going<\/strong> to have to do better and try some of the other food here but at that point<\/strong>\u2026 simple was all I could see, or eat\u2026 <\/p>\n

I didn\u2019t even put this together till I got up this morning\u2026 just crashed once I got back from the pier\u2026 well off to work now\u2026 REX<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
