Once a very popular hobby in America, amateur radio–often called ham radio–experienced a decline in the last 10 to 15 years. But the drop appears to be plateauing. In fact, there has been a renewed interest in amateur radio of late. Many new “hams” are finding a new calling; one that involves public service. That’s good news for the hobby, and even better news for the nation.
