We done it.

Ok, we needed to make a trip to Lakewood today as we have been Very Very remiss in getting Grandson #1 his birthday present (Birthday was early January)… Seems he came too close to Christmas and we tend to forget then tend to not be around and , well you know we forget. So we have one thing to do today and that was make sure we got his birthday to him before it turned into April… ha!. We took off north and found he was at “smart kids” (DI = Destination Imagination).  They have a competition next Saturday and they had to work on their project this week. So since he was buy we opted to go out and eat.  In all our time around here we had seen a lot of signs and ads for The White Fence Farm.  they were to have special chicken dinners?  So we figured why  not.  We arrived and the place was not overly busy even though it was just a little after lunch time.  They must do bigger for evening meals or maybe everyone was out skiing?    We got right in got seated and got a view of the menu.  I can say we got really good service and they are really pretty fast getting the food out.  The price is a big high but hey it is Denver right? I will tell all my friends it ain’t no Eischens!  It is good chicken but not great.  Also after reading up on it here, the ones in Denver are not even the originals and even then the first one (In Illinois along Route 66) was known for it’s hamburgers but hey that was back before my Dad was a boy… Something about before 1926?

So you start you meal with salads – Their versions are pickled beets, coleslaw, kidney bean salad and cottage cheese oh and donut holes for bread… not really donut holes but they did have sugar coating on them and really to me tasted like donut holes… I can say the coleslaw was really good the pickled beets were pretty good and the other was… just moderately good.  (We were hungry)… then they bring on the main course..

Half a chicken.  We had left overs… I got the baked and probably should have gotten the mashed?   oh well… It looks good anyway…

We then figured we should take a little look around so this is what we saw…

People were standing in front when we went in so this came after…

Would you let the cow drive?  and the chicken is hanging on and they ain’t moved yet…

There was a lot of old equipment, an old Model T truck and other stuff but as we walked by this building a guy yelled , come on it… ok so guess we will…

Turns out it is the model train club site ( I think they guy never said as he was way too busy showing us the buttons and keeping things moving as they worked on a new layout…

The two of them were working on this layout and getting things to travel right.  I think they still have a few bumps but it will be a nice big layout once they get it done and will show through the big front window.  He seemed to like Santé Fe trains…

Of course after all that eating and activity we needed a break…

But the Rest Haven was closed… oh well just hold it till we get down the road… ha!

We made it to the kids house.  I had to spend a couple hours tickling GS#2… kid wants to be tickled and begs for it… then visited with Daughter and GS#1 a bit as he got his birthday present and then we had to head home… was told we had to do laundry?  ok, not we… I did it last week… so home we came.  Will rest up a bit tomorrow and then Monday hook up the new trailer and head off for Oklahoma to get another load of stuff to move out here.  We got too much stuff when both houses appear full still?  Well not really we don’t have anything in the dining room and lots of boxes that aren’t ‘t put away and the bedroom is borrowed stuff here in Colorado as our stuff is still in OK… Slowly but surely we will get most of it to Colo… although we will keep a lot in OK as I have a nice big 30 x 40 storage, garage, shop that won’t move?  Sure wish it would…
