Ok, been a long while but got involved in several things and writing it down was not high on my list…
The Month of November was spent in “REDO”… we never really liked the way the kitchen turned out and wanted several things changed… when the floor tile started popping loose that was the last straw so it all came out…
The cabinets were ok, liked those we are keeping them but that island and counter top was done in granite tile not full granite… and that island was one long stretch that just wasn’t ??? what we wanted…
So we move all the stuff from the kitchen, laundry and other into the rest of the house… had to empty out the China cabinet as it was being moved as well… Got way too much crap…
So the island came out… still have some tape on the floor for plans we were playing with… The contractor has the great system of putting in a plastic wall to keep the dust out of the rest of the house… and a filter to pump it outside… although due to the odd ceiling we had it found a hole and we got dusted some anyway… but not as bad as it could have been…
ok, we were busing out floor, moving the China cabinet… and it was messy…
With the floor cleared the counters ripped off the marble guy came to measure existing… interesting machine that builds the CAD drawing…
Then they get the sub floor down and we spend an evening with the remodel guy and his cabinet maker, laying out the new island and detailing the storage, etc.… went from long , skinny to square with cut corners…
oh and we are still scrambling to pick out tile and granite… spent most weekends going everywhere to try and find just what “she” wanted… but we did… I hope….
ok, in the middle we got the first of the counter tops in with sink… still a long way from done but it is a step and then it was off to pick out the back splash … tile or stone or ?
Now we could really match up the tile to the counter? not sure which direction is correct but picked the granite first… then made sure the tile we pick would work with cabinets and counter…
It is tile but really has the appearance of stone and is rough surface like stone with speckles in it… not more “slick” tile… this stuff walks real good…
And some cosmetic stuff to extend a wall a few inches so that cabinet could be moved to the corner… and the cabinet moved… and “whew”… thanksgiving well we ain’t doing it here so went to Mother –in-laws for that…

Oh and we had an ice storm… although right here it was not bad, the real ice was west and south of us… in fact it barely got down to freezing but made the loosing FB game more miserable for us… oh well…
ice was hard on the poor little tree …
before the ice storm there was a lot of good color out… actually about the time we started the remodel…
ok, back to the project, here laying out the back splash stones… for a pattern that would work…
The back splash is in, needing grout but the design came out ok…
The China cabinet got it’s top… moved up… suspect that will be a “landing” area for all that junk you just drop when you come in… ? oh well… it will get granite for a top…
Ok, we are one month in and waiting on the island to be built and the rest of the granite tops to be put in… not a huge deal for us but still time consuming… nice to at least have the construction stuff out and able to use the washer, dishes, microwave, etc.…
Went to a BB game (we lost)… but coming out caught this in the parking lot…
On the front, it has the Kurt Russell shadow used in the FB prelude (Tombstone)… a bit over the top for me but glad someone else enjoys it…
In between I have been real busy working on the next airplane and even more on doing some winter radio contacts… Trying to capture the last couple of states I need on the 160 meter band and adding countries to my contact list…
So that is the catch up… with out details… just too damn busy for being retired… I need a nap!..
