Still fixing…

This morning I started off by going out for breakfast.  I go to Braums some, because they have the paper there and if I am lucky I can catch up on the weekly BS in  the local paper, with out having to pay the overly high delivery price… Hey I am retired and watching my pennies… somewhat… I got a call and Sherrie had gotten a call that a neighbor was out walking their dogs this morning and said I had a big leak on my front watering system… well it waters before 6 and I seldom pay much attention and it doesn’t water long enough to get a lot of places wet… but when I got home I grabbed the drip system repair box and took off… I spent a bit more than an hour plugging leaks, fixing sprayers, etc.… got it fixed for a while longer, I hope… Then I worked on the POE unit for the cameras… I got some POE (Power over Ethernet) type cameras and bought one switch that can power 4 cameras… I can’t power all of them with it as they are in split areas but I can do 2 or 3 around the shop and cut out the extra extension cords I had run for the little power cubes… as well as the extra cubes… so am working on getting it put in… have to get a mount for it to be put up high on the inside wall, etc.… where the Ethernet lines come together… and I need to get a few more things changed so it can power up the cameras out there but I tested it on one and it worked fine…

As  you can tell I am still working on replacing and fixing what was burned up… Well, I am really slow at getting it done, in the old days it would have been fixed or dumped in the first weeks… but now I am not in a big hurry and doing a bit more checking before I totally replace stuff… Now I have:

replaced the ham radios… replaced the computers and have them working… still need a bit more software installed but as I said, no hurry… getting the things I need working and then decide what else… one thing I have done is upgrade the security /video cameras… and I have to say the night vision ip cameras are a lot better now than they were just a couple of years ago …not to mention the color is better during the day..

yea it already has a cob web on it… ran the other way last night… but no light and can see the whole drive… that is about 150 ft..

Front porch with only the led yard lights… and good detail too..

This afternoon I pulled another network cable (shielded one) through the underground conduit form the house to the shop… that helped the speed some and now being shielded helps as well since it run right  next to the high power lines form the shop to the house… that has been a big interference for the network but now all the lines from the router out to the far end of the shop are shielded… good speed too.  once that was done back to tinkering with the cameras… a little problem with the software for some reason it won’t uploaded the bigger pictures to the webpage, will do fine if they are less than 80KB but get them up above that during the day and it drops 2 of the 4 larger HD camera pictures out… will send the lower res ones fine?  and 2 of the HD get sent?  not figuring that one out… so something to keep working on… this evening we couldn’t decide on dinner so I went to Braums again for a chocolate shake… but on the way got the warning so had to go fill up with gas… I was a bit late as before noon it was 1.86 and tonight it was 1.91 at the cheapest, and 1.99 at all the others… oh wait, big game this weekend so just getting ready for the rush… oh well… buy gas on Wed morning or pay bigger prices…

At Braums I caught this transport operations going on..

This evening I did get out and fire up the radio… made a few 160 meter contacts… made 7 or 8 last night as well… hope it clears up a little more but hearing things pretty well right now… just not great at getting out… all the time. I need to get the final order of some new coax and antennas for replacements and that will be the end of replacing burnt up stuff… for this time.
