Well, I posted that Friday I was a volunteer… glad it was Friday as I heard that Saturday was a really big day and the Steam Show had approximately 45000? visitors for the weekend… that is big for a few volunteers to handle…
Saturday I had something else I wanted to get done,… with a little prompting and pushing, we did get up to the special jeweler and pick up (before Mothers Day and Anniversary) the necklace that she had picked out the design for and had made. When we got her wedding ring redone ??? 2 years ago??? we had bigger diamonds put in it but kept the same ring… just change it up a little but that meant that the original diamond had to come out and was put in a bag… I finally pushed that we needed to have it put into something even if it meant getting another one and making a pair of earrings or getting another ring and adding birth stones for the kids or what ever… ??? so a few months ago she finally picked out a necklace for it..
Strange, I tried several different pictures, with both light and dark backgrounds and they all come out looking like yellow gold but it is white as is the chain… oh well… At least it is now finished up… and not a loose stone that we could loose more easily…
We also did some family visiting… on Saturday and it was a nice day for being out.
Sunday, we got around but not too fast and made it to church then off to Slims for some chicken… After the chicken I played in my shop a bit… worked on the apparatus for cutting the tops and bottoms off aluminum cans for some of my projects… I got the tool finished up Monday and have cut up a few cans… need to get a picture of the little bench piece but haven’t done that… but once I got that running I had to cut some cans… and once I got those cans cut I had to make something…
So I have made several some-things… I am still working on the humming bird with the wings that turn in the wind… my first ones were a bit big and bulky looking and the last one the wings are better but maybe the tail was a bit too long as the wings looked like they were too high but in reality in the same place as the others??? oh well the wings do turn in the wind and the last one I came up with a better method for the wings so they are closer to the body… and on a single piece that doesn’t have to be stapled to the body… much better for that part… then I jumped off and started making some of those spinners to the left… got 5 of them done today… as a single unit it is ok… but I found when I tried hanging 2 or 3 together… they are never exactly even? got to figure out how to make them line up more even??? and I used a center die for the hole in the middle so it appears it is the blades and the bend points that make them angle off? I guess I shouldn’t be so particular about straight and all but that is how it is… oh and those are my wintered citronella plants…. yes an odd variety I picked up a couple years ago from a guy what was selling them at the farmers market… but they do for sure have the citronella smell…
Now it is raining so…. not sure , guess I will fashion some more can stuff??? I need to make a few more airplanes but they take 8 to 10 hours to do one of them… I don’t work too fast… other things get in the way, like trips to the gym, meals, trips to town, ham radio, ??? Oh well, it is great to be retired…
