They (the infamous they) say things come in threes… so I am sure hoping that I whacked out all of mine for the foreseeable future… What do you think?
I had to make a trip to Tulsa for two, count that 2, Doctor appointments… one at 8:30 and I live almost 1.5 hours away???? that just sucks…
1. My trials started at 4AM… You know when you have something important you can’t sleep and you keep waking up to check the clock… that was this morning from about 3:30 until 5:30 when I got up… I left out and knew I had to go get gas first as we had not filled the car last night – never even thought about it all day Sunday… mistake #1…
2. I got to the Murphy pumps and started the one I pulled up to – you know there is almost no one there at 6am… but they were on night service and that means maybe…. 0.1 gallons per minute rate… but the lady had showed up and she asked that I just stop the flow and she would turn it up… that worked out ok but I lost about 15 minutes there…
3. Got on my way and was doing well, except for the 15 miles of one late 55mph on the toll road… who knew?
4. Was just outside Tulsa and in the dark boxed in with traffic, I hit something in the road and tore up a tire on wife’s car… bawoosh… flat in seconds and I barely got off the right side of the road (a 4 lane road in the dark on the down side of a hill… I didn’t drive on down to the intersection (a half mile and ruin the wheel)… but pulled off into the grass so that only the flat tire (drivers side) was on the shoulder… still not a safe spot but I hoped…
5. I dug out the jack – never used, the spare , never out and proceeded to get it changed… not bad in the dark, I got it done in about 25minutes with all that traffic… .
6. Next I missed the turn in the middle of Tulsa due to consistent construction at the 244-75-51-64….. intersections… shit… I looked and the north bound would be impossible to get back on in reverse order and get on… I took 21st street as it heads east anyway… not too many stops and not a great deal of traffic… ok, we might make it..
7. Hit the expressway (Broken Arrow)… and within 1/4 mile it stopped, almost dead… heard on the radio then that there was an accident about 2 miles down… so we would be stop and go, mostly stop, for the next two miles… I squeezed to the far left as they appeared to be moving… good choice as the accident was on the far right lane so I did get through that and did get to my appointment at about 5 minutes late… Strange how when I made that appointment they said they were totally booked up and I had to come in early… but there was no one in the waiting room and I didn’t see much movement behind? I turned in my paperwork, and with in 15 minutes was in a room and then the Doctor and that didn’t take long then I had a lab… oh good. With all that I figured my Blood Pressure would be sky high but it was fine
8. Of course they took blood… left arm jabbed and band aid..
9. I then rushed out and had to drive all the way back up to the north side of Tulsa… I had been on 109 south for the last one…
10. This one was in a come and go clinic near the airport – not a nice neighborhood for physical… it was a clinic that specializes in drug and physical tests… so the crowd was not the best and it was full… They had hell finding my paperwork that had been sent to them by UPS… fortunately I had an email printed out with numbers…
11. They check my eyes, ears, pee, etc., poked and probed but no x-rays? strange… and They took blood (got both arms bloody and sore) and two band aids now..
12. I had to have an EKG as well so – they have to dry shave me in 8 spots…and even then the damn pads would not stay on… now I will have an itch in spots I don’t want to scratch… what the hell next
13. They inform me that most of my shots were old and out of date (who knew some of this was only good for 10 years)… so had to take nearly all the overseas stuff over, from yellow fever to Hep B and the Flu shot… 4 in one arm and 3 in the other… one of those bled… and 3 more band aids…
14. Since I knew I had tests coming they had told me to not eat or drink before… crap I was thirsty by 1pm… So went to eat and drink… should have had some stiff belts but knew I had to drive back and needed another tire…
15. After eating I started calling all over to find a tire – Goodyear, 215/55/17… no such dog in the show… but they could all order it for Wed or Thurs… although
16. the discount tire in Stillwater said they had 2… so drove back, real careful, got there at 3:30… in 45 minutes they couldn’t find the two they were supposed to have… they can order and have it tomorrow…Like shit man I have appointments tomorrow and Wednesday out of town… I am in Enid to take Dad to 2 Dr. appointments tomorrow… OKC on Wed… ?
17. Talked them into a loaner spare for the two days, get back Wed and maybe get the new one on – that they ordered… and the damn thing is $155 bucks+ mount and tax… and that was cheap as I got quotes for $180, 209, 195….. if the other 3 on the car didn’t have more than half the miles left I would go get some $95 tires for all 4… lets see, $95 on a 50k tire with road hazard is slightly over $400… or $800 for Goodyear and $900 for Mich with 70k mileage???
Surely that will qualify for my 3 or maybe 6 or 12 bad occurrences for awhile? you think?
I did however get these picks, after the tire change coming into Tulsa…neat.
And they lied! There were several more work zones just past this one!
Anyhow, thought those pics were kind of cool. So ends my day, still sore about the tire and the shots and the blood tests, (in different ways)… – WD0AJG
